IMO, it's problem if those that perpetuate the crime shouldn't' be in the country in the first place. The fact that the crime occurred indicates a failure by the govt to protect its citizens.

just because this person raped a woman on us soil has no bearing on my opinion of him as an illegal immigrant. some other girl in some other country was most likely going to get raped by him and either way i hope the courts make like courts

IMO, that makes no sense. I do not in any way see the connection between what hypothetical event would happen in another country. The fact is it happened in the US, by someone that was apparently in the US illegally. Yes, these idiots are scum, no matter where they are located. However, they did not rape someone in another country, they raped them in the US. There was no hypothetical rape somewhere else. The overwhelming fact is there were in the US illegally and committed a crime. They should have not been in the US in the first place. What is mind boggling about this is those that condone such activity, through their advocation of banning the one agency that works tirelessly to prevent it.

i'll admit my argument is suspect and i don't disagree with your opinion. we just differ philosophically. i don't think i have any more right to the land i live on than anyone else. what difference is there between some bear leisurely floating across some minnesota lake into canada and some poor guatemalan who's just trying to feed his family? the vast majority of illegals (i would have to imagine) are such. violent people are always going to fall through the cracks. if there's any shining light into what happened to those poor girls, it's hard to get away with rape in this country. even false rape

how bout let's compromise. you guys get your wall and we put the detainees into sorta an nfl draft combine. your audition into america. we'll get reality tv to pay for it and america gets to choose who gets drafted. for instance, some guys' sob story passes a polygraph and america says how touching it all is. and then there'd be like a showcasing of your skills. maybe a spelling bee. sometimes it's tough not to root for the bad boy, but when your country's at stake how much will his dashing appeal appeal to you?
