We also have a better per recruit ranking than Toledo with the big commits of the past 24 hours and now are best in MAC. 247sports does not factor in their 12th recruit, who is not rated.

Recruit rankings are for fodder only. Who can really play? I would think two years removed from the Cotton Bowl that featured a team where mainly 2* recruits were the best players on the field everyone would chill on these rankings. Ohio U is a strong contender for MAC honors this season and I don't think they have ever led a recruiting ranking contest?

The ranking system is by no means foolproof, however, it is in most cases a good indication of what kind of player the individual is. I think we all would like to see a class full of 3 star recruits as opposed to a class full of 2 stars or lower or guys that didn't even get rated.

Watch the line of scrimmage when we play U of M this year, I expect we will be dominated. That's what happens when a line of 2/3 stars goes up against a line of 4/5 stars.

Not rated, but had 2 P5 offers. And the next lowest ranked verbal had 3 P5 offers.
Wahlberg(6), Robinson(7), Dalton(3) had 16 P5 offers.Great commits. I believe the rest of the verbal commits had 1.

It's not all about having P5 offers. A lot of these kids chose WMU over peer offers. Most of them had offers from a bunch of MAC schools. Only the top kids in G5 classes are gonna be sporting P5 offers and some of these kids will get some later on as bigger schools come looking to grab their backup plans or after the kids blow up as seniors.

Toledo's top 2 recruits have 1 P5 offer between them

Yeah, they'd be the second and third ranked commits in Syracuse's class so far.
Tell Coach Dino we'll miss him. He left BG in great shape.

Seems like Lester is being able to recruit good, an item many fans were concerned about when he was hired. The question remains, can he coach?

The rankings - at least by average rating - seem to be suspiciously well correlated with how good the team was last year.

By average, a 7 win MAC East Champ Akron is #11. Miami with 5 wins is #3. BSU
won 2 games and has a nice class. So there goes that theory.

Didn't say it was perfect correlation. Ball state is an outlier although they were only that bad because of a lot of injuries. I suspect its based on reputation which includes more than one year.

Ball State hasn't had a winning season since 2013.

The players are for the most part already rated by the time they commit, so I'm not sure how it follows that the rankings are based on program reputation especially in the MAC.

There’s always one or two exceptions in our recruiting classes that turn out to be excellent players. However, give me a boat load of three stars every year.

Ball State hasn't had a winning season since 2013.

The only teams with a lower recruiting ranking than Ball State are Akron, BG, and Kent State. Nothing surprising there. Akron last year was a bit flukey.

According to 247, Ball State is #64 nationally and #4 in the MAC recruiting.
