Have you been reading what the coaches have said? Abraham is light-years ahead of the other guys. Only Griggs can catch him now.

RE: Jack Abraham
This is from that Shannon Dawson interview: "Even this past year, nobody really played more than six games. Kwadra (Griggs) broke his finger the week before Kentucky (the season opener). So he was in a situation where he wasn’t 100 percent. But I thought he battled through that pretty well, then he broke his hand in the North Texas game and he was out for four or five weeks. Then, when Keon was in there, obviously there were games where we played well, like against UTSA."

That shines a completely different light on the situation. Basically, Griggs is injury-prone, but who knows what he's capable of when he's healthy. I think he's lost his job, but he'll be a solid backup.

How in the world do you get 5 QB's on the roster, 3 are playing ball and the starter from last year isn't even playing. Why do you bring so many guys who have the same skillset? Gotta believe the best guy is gonna win out, but we could have used those spots for more immediate needs on the team.

They know the QB spot lost them games last year, so they want a better QB than Griggs and Howard. They also know Rodriguez, talent wise, and don't see him being able to do any better than Griggs or Howard, at least this season. That's why they got some freshmen and a juco QB.

Why would we want Howard as a running back? He fumbles too much. Why would we want Howard as a TE? The way he fumbles, can he catch?

Hard to say what Griggs really can do. He seems to be injury-prone. I would love to see what he could do completely healthy.

RE: Jack Abraham
I am thankful it looks like we are going to have two legitimate qbs (Griggs and Abraham) going into the season. Below is the stat line from Louisiana Tech's starting qb in their spring game. He is their returning starter too.

Starting quarterback and Blue team signal caller J'Mar Smith was a bit high on his throws for much of the afternoon and finished 13-for-34 for a game-high 113 yards.

He's serviceable, but we aren't going to win games "because" of him. This year no Korey Robertson or Ito Smith.....yikes.

Obviously he's much better than Keon Howard, but so is pretty much any quarterback who has the ability to look off the primary route.

Wow. Sounds like Holtz is in trouble. J'Mar is a junior incumbent that should be playing better. Skip better hope that defense is stout. UAB and UNT look much tougher.

Griggs excels in relief appearances. Hope it continues.
