Y’all joke, but Saul was in on some one star recruits he heard about while playing Call of Duty with his Hogwarts club.

Also, recruiting ties to DC and Atlanta - two nice areas for us. Primarily though, he knows what it takes to run a program.

I am a GT alum and a UM season ticket holder. Paul Hewitts teams were really fun to watch over his first 5 years. The 2002 national runner up team was very unselfish, played hard on defense, and pressed—pretty much like a Finch team. I kinda stopped watching his later years; they coincided with UMs 4 year run (and I’ve always been a bigger Tiger BB fan).

He beat us the year we beat Tubby at UK.

Sounds like Keelon's going to get a pretty sweet gig taking over team Penny and filling up the pipeline!

Shaq isn't happening. Nor should it. My bet is we are getting someone nobody has a clue about at this time. I wish Jordan Mincy would be one of the guys, but he hasn't been contacted. An ex-coach like Gary Waters would also be sweet. Everything should fill out pretty quickly.

Hewitt is a really good recruiter. He's been a head coach and he has ties to AAU basketball.

Really good recruiter who was fired for not winning...

Does that mean he is a poor x&O coach, poor leader, poor motivator or a combination?

He was a bit like Pastner. Got the recruits but couldn't do a lot with them. He started out with two 20-win seasons at George Mason but only won 20 total game the next 2 years.

So I don't understand why people are so high on getting a coach who does not have a record of developing players. Do we want him just because he is a head coach?

I can't believe people still listen to you...

You have made it obvious so many times that you are joking.

There will no longer be a "Team Penny". Some of the same people will reorganize a "new" program. Hopefully Nike will still sponsor.

Correct. He stated that on GP today. It will be called Bluff City something and I believe will retain the Nike sponsorship.

Depends on what you're looking for. Here, we all have slightly different takes on what is needed. Personally, I don't think Penny will need help in development or in game coaching. And I don't think he necessarily needs big recruiting from his veteran guy. I think that guy needs to help with the day-to-day management of the program - scheduling games, scheduling other things, compliance issues, college contacts, scouting, etc.
