Lol...If you want to kill sports allow active players to be recruited to other teams AND allow them to transfer without penalty.

Every pro league has rules against recruiting active players of other teams in that league

You think that doesnt go on already? It happen with juniors/soon to be seniors every year if they are any good. Hell, Pastner was actively recruiting Markel Crawford last season.

After the season is over and he has announced he is transferring...Especially seniors because they don't need a release.

Imagine a world were Bama needed a QB to start last season and Ferguson just had a great season...Bama would just stroll in and take our QB.

You cant have that unless there is some consequence or it will ruin the game.

What are you talking about? Then Ferguson would of been a junior when he transferred to play his senior season at bama. Do you even know how this works?

Read the entire thread before commenting please...

To make it easier he bolded the comment about transferring without penalty...If that is allowed ferguson would have been allowed to transfer as a Junior and play immediately

Um, that already happens in basketball. Good juniors on pace to graduate early are "contacted" well before the season is complete. Its against the rules but it happens all the time.

I cant speak for football.

The ncaa is a stupid system and punishing the players to band-aid the system so schools can make millions tax-free isn’t a solution.

You cannot transfer without any penalty at any level of organized competition.

Are they making millions of $ off of high school basketball.

The rule isn't in place to punish the players it is in place to keep competition fair.

Considering that a team can only have 13 scholarship players and players are not going to transfer somewhere that they can't get playing time, the rule could be altered to make it better for teams and players.

Numbers would work themselves out as Cal used to say.

It would work out by making average teams bad and bad teams horrible.

Isn't that the case anyway?

No hype, no players?

I think if you recruit smart and make relationships that would cut down on transfers.

But if you tell a kid that he is your guy just to get him on campus as a backup option, turn around and recruit Derrick Rose followed by a Tyreke Evans then Willie Kemp should be allowed to transfer with minimal penalty.

Like I said, if stuff ain't working out in the fall semester and you really want to transfer then leave in the spring but be eligible to play the following fall with three years remaining and only sit out spring semester instead of spring semester followed by fall semester which would leave you with three and a half years remaining.

I don't think Cal pulled anyones scholarship...

I think he just told them they would never play again at Memphis...They could stay if they wanted to.

03-lmfao

He did after taking over at Kentucky....a few players were encouraged not to come back...
