Because of his nervous energy he started that way and maintains it, but you'd be hard-pressed to find someone in the stands who hasn't met him at least once. Don't just dismiss posts about STF because those are perceptions from some long-time, true Huskie fans.
I'd disagree with GeorgeBorkFan in one aspect, Phillips "was approachable to the nth degree," is accurate, but often Phillips approached fans first, so the nth degree was a bonus. STF very much picks and chooses what he does and where he is relative to Huskie events when the bottom line is he should be making contact with everyone regardless of circumstances. And yes, Dog Fan's assessment is spot on about his involvement with mega donors and he should as OldTtimeNIU believes, however, schmoozing everybody is equally important. Yes, mega donors are vital, but we don't have enough of them to make Frazier's Master(bation) Plan a reality, but making every level of donor plus simply fans feel special is how you ultimately increase attendance, support, loyalty and future donations.
dekalb222, do you ever think about what percentage of NIU fans are on this site? Whether you think that is very small, average, or great, now consider how many of that group are expressing frustration and displeasure....instead of dismissing those folks as "some Huskie fans" for whom nothing is ever right or enough, realize these are issues that need to be overcome. Same as you keep insisting the Huskies are just a big man away from major success, or a kiss after a win makes up for hostility in an embarrassing home loss. Consider the many quotes about how adversity reveals character.
