Sat, Sep 1 @Iowa

Sat, Sep 29 @Eastern Michigan
Sat, Oct 6 @Ball State
Sat, Oct 13 Ohio

Thurs, Nov 1 @Akron (five days after previous game)
Weds, Nov 7 Toledo (six days after previous game)
Weds, Nov 14 Miami
Tues, Nov 20 @Western Michigan (six days after previous game)
For crying out loud, NIU fans are determined to cry and moan about the MAC and ESPN no matter what was released with this schedule.
The Huskies play eight of their twelve games on Saturday. The three Saturday home games are all against good to decent opponents. NIU only has two weekday home games.
Why is this so awful? Here's the answer - it isn't. There are more Saturday games then weekday games and the four MACtion games are at the end of the season, when things matter most, and televised nationally. This is a positive thing for NIU and the MAC, it's just a shame that Huskie fans can't work that out for themselves.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. While it's nice to have a couple of Saturday home games in September this schedule sucks overall. There will be about 5,000 fans at the Toledo and Miami games.
I guess you could make the argument that this is a good schedule for TV viewers. For everyone else, including players, students and fans who want to attend the games, it's lousy.

Don't complain once about attendance in November.

He could not care less about attendance. You have to understand that Vegas has one agenda - have as many games midweek on ESPN as possible so that he can watch the games on TV. Those of us who actually want to go to the games want them on Saturdays.

I love having the games televised. Would our fans, more importantly, students, show up if games weren't on tv?. NO
MAC has always had terrible attendance. The powers that be were looking for exposure and money with the tv contract. Even FCS teams have better attendance. It's a culture issue and takes decades to change.

Do the fans and students show up now? Count the empty seats. And the more we have on TV, the more people opt to stay home in their warm homes and watch the game on the big screen TV.
The money is minimal. Exposure? Are potential recruits lining up and clamoring to play for a MAC team in front of an empty stadium with little fan support in biting cold temps? All that "exposure" could give them frostbite!

Wow. Aren't we on our high horse?
BTW, explain to me how it's fair that 2 schools play one weekday game, Friday after Thanksgiving and 2 more play only one in addition to that Friday, while 1/2 the teams play 4?
Never mind, it's my fault for bringing it up. We should all get our heads out of our rears and get season tickets, go to the weekday games., drive hr, 90 minutes watch a game and turn around and go home. (Be sure to get beer nuggets before Lukulo's closes) Call off work, minimum get out early. And never mind the tickets to the games will be discounted to $15, maybe less with a can of corn, by November.

Easy to say when it benefits you to have the game televised since your in Vegas. For the small number of us who actually enjoy going to Saturday games, this sucks. I try to make the Maction games but it is getting very difficult with work and the cold temperatures.

Yeah, that bolded statement is completely wrong. Just a short 10-15 years ago NIU averaged 24-25k+ for home football games. Hell, just in 2013 they averaged over 20k+.
Attendance is dropping nationwide but I'd be willing to bet that the drop for MAC schools is much more drastic.

RE: MAC Schedule Released
Someone from the MAC explain to me how we have to play BYU and then go to Akron 5 days later to play them on the other side of the country? How in the world do they expect their student athletes to be able to complete their schoolwork under those conditions?

Just based on the schedule, if we were to win the MAC that would rank really high on the all time list.

Furthermore, opposite time zones going from Utah to Ohio on that five day turnaround. A joke for a college athlete to deal with.

The MAC doesn't give a flying F. All they're concerned about is kissing the fat asses of ESPN. The players should go on strike.

Avg attendance last year 11,291 IL ST avg attendance 11,440(5 games vs 6 but please) Grand Valley State (tops in D2) 13432Iagain 5 vs 6 but please they're D2)
This cannot continue for another 4-8 years or attendance will be below 10K avg. Time to 1) talk to the Horizon about rejoining for Hoops and Olympic sports and 2) Talk to Liberty, UMASS, NM ST, BYU , Army & Hawaii about scheduling agreements and P5 programs frmo a reasonable distance to schedule series similar to Nebraska. Yeah I know that angers alot of people but Lincoln is actually closer than some MAC programs are to NIU and the $ is gargantuan plus of course NIU won the first game.
Imagine a schedule with Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, kansas st & Wisconsin; yeah not all those in one year but over a few years. Going INDY would also free up at least an additoinal game to play an extra P5 prgoram (FSU)
Hawaii has always had scheduling challenges, how excited woudl the team and fanbase be for a sries with the Warriors when Hawaii pays the travel costs. Play them in AUgust and get National TV exposure

I would be in favor of ANY opportunity to get the hell out of the MAC - independent, Sun Belt, FCS - whatever.

Tough to win the MAC without at least an average QB.

I think we're more likely to start the season 0-4 than win even the West division.

My very early prediction which means squat.
6-6 with a win over WMU when both are out of it.
