Sure. Be what you want to be. Uc controlled the game despite not really being into it after the first few minutes.
Well, hopefully the team's upset with that performance because they're not going to get better if they're happy with it.
Not being "into it" is a good way to lose games you shouldn't.
Regardless, happy to get out of there with a win.
Meh. It happens all the time at this point into the season. They've played 23 games now, it's hard to expect them to be fired up after starting a game like that. This game was wrapped up on 8 minutes. That's all that matters.
We’re better than this
Utterly dominated for 10 minutes then basically coasted the rest of the way. Not our best effort. So it goes. The game was over 5-10 minutes into the game. UConn had no hope. Yea...we can play better. I wish we did, but don't read much into it.

After the initial burst, I didn't think we looked that good, but good enough to get the W. Kinda sleep walked through the rest of the game.
I'm predicting that either MSU or UVA goes down tonight. We won't hop the Cavs, but would pass Sparty.

Think that may have had more to do with the zone they were playing, limits possessions, keeps us from running and our pg's are smallish that keeps them from creating shots from inside the zone ( they rely on Clark for that ) and that takes up possession time. You have to win all kind of games, thought they played well, remember that was UConns 1st loss there this year.

I'd say St. John's is a decent bit better than UConn.
St John's broke an 11 game losing streak by beating Duke... how is that a decent bit better?

Kansas loses at home to a team with an RPI of 115. Duke loses to a team on an eleven game losing streak. We win on the road, the game was never really in doubt, and we give UCONN their first loss this season at Gampel Pavilion. Life is good. Drink up, my friends.

St Johns would be favored on a neutral floor against UConn.

Coach K has the same problem every year. Only plays 5 or 6 players and his teams can't play Defense.

It was extremely classy of Uconn fans to give Gary a standing ovation for 8 minutes after breaking the games started record.

Always good to win there.
Broome's best game as a bearcat. Forget the points. Stayed in front of his man and didn't get lost on assignments. Wasn't a liability on D. That is a yuuge plus.

Good point. He played 24 minutes as a result as well. When he's playing well Cronin will let him go.

RE: Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Connecticut Huskies Game Thread
Any conference road win, by any margin is fine with me--just keep winning. Beating UCONN anytime, anywhere is sweet and ruining their perfect home court record in Storrs was special.
With that said, the long scoring droughts should remain a concern for a UC team that otherwise appears well equipped for a deep run in March. They might have UCONN on their jerseys, but performance this season suggests the Huskies aren't a quality opponent. Any quality opponent UC faces, capable of scoring consistently on its possessions during a UC scoring drought such as that one today, will run out to a lead against UC (As X did this season).
But it's been a great week. What the 'Cats did against Houston Wednesday offensively and defensively was truly impressive. I'm a big believer that the best is yet to come for this very special Bearcat team. Go 'Cats!

Yes about the closing out of this game.
The decision to milk the clock down the stretch and jack up a bad shot as the shot clock expires is stupid.
Why? They could have played for shot clock violations instead and it would not have mattered. That game was over long before the clock said it was.

the interesting part to me today was he didn't start off playing well. he had 2 turnovers quickly but unlike previous games Mick didn't give him the quick hook. he let him play through them this time and Cane really responded.

yeah it wasn't really fun to watch at the end but that thing was wrapped up with 7 minutes to go. the final score didn't reflect it, but that game was a blowout.

Our scoring droughts are the only thing that really concern me about this team. Evans, Broome, and Cumberland are going to have to be able to get buckets when the offense is stagnant. All 3 have shown the capability in a variety of ways (step-back jumpers, getting to the rim, mid-range pull-ups), but none have done it consistently enough to completely ease my concern. Everything else is there for this team to make a very deep run. We need Evans in particular to be that guy like Sean Kilpatrick was where he could put the team on his back and will his way to scoring.
