Perfect.
Saddest thing is even with the advantages this division would give you UNC would likely only win it once a decade out of sheer incompetence. VT, GT, and Wake would be the top three.
Current coach: you're probably right. Considering our last competent coach was wrongfully terminated.

East: BC, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville, VT, Miami, WF
Atlantic: UNC, NCSU, Duke, UVa, Clemson, GT, FSU
WF is in the East because there isn’t a 7th former Big East team and they would be taking one for the team by doing this. The only permanent cross division rivalries that would be preserved would be FSU-Miami and UVa-VT. WF might want Duke too. The B1G has a similar setup in which Purdue-Indiana is the only permanent cross division rivalry. I’d guess VT wouldn’t like this setup, but why not discuss anyway?
Give Wake Forest UNC instead and you might have a deal...
I would offer them a better deal.
In addition to making UNC their permanent crossover, I would persuade Virginia, Duke and NC State to agree to each play Wake OOC twice every six year cycle in addition to their rotational crossover game. Before Va Tech came on board, and Wake had a full round robin, they played a Virginia or NC school four times a year. In this set up, they would have one 3.5 times a year (since they would also have Va Tech every year).
For UVa, State and Duke, Wake is as attractive an OOC opponent as they are likely to play anyway, both from a competitive and fan interest point of view.
I don't know if there are any Wake fans lurking out there, but if there are how do you think Wake would react to this?

I'd rather have Wake than NCSU, Duke, or UVA. They've been a friend to Clemson many times over the years and road trips to their stadium are actually enjoyable experiences. Best fans in the conference.

I'm OK with those divisions. Sorry to lose GT and UNC(and UVA would have to be the annual crossover). However, it still hits the main recruiting areas for the Hokies, NC State is a better football program than UNC, and Syracuse and Louisville are more rivals to VT than GT and Duke.

So Wilkie is now 1 for 84638591837483947900 in conference alignment posts?
I don’t think NC State would go for it.

Well, we could do this and form a real football conference:
Boston College
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
West Virginia
Virginia Tech
Louisville
North Carolina State
Clemson
Florida State
Miami

RE: It’s been a while, but another division realignment thread
It’s obvious the ACC should keep fighting to abolish divisions. It’s a stupid rule. Each team gets four permanent rivals: lock the athletic directors in a Holiday Inn and make them figure it out. UNC would have Duke, UVA, NC State, and Wake then rotate four teams.
If the divisions change then Syracuse or BC should be traded for VaTech to form a true zipper. Otherwise, they’re fine. None of this old Big East + Louisville nostalgia crap matters.

Anytime I can have both Syracuse and Miami in same division, I love it. Add in Clemson and FSU, It's off the Charts.
