BINGO!!!!! Can anyone produce anything where Aresco has pushed for an expanded playoff? The goal was and is for the AAC to move back into the existing power structure. All that takes is a contract bowl which is the whole purpose of the p6 narrative
Completely agree. More money and a NY tie in is the most important goal. With that, our champ will be ranked better and have a better shot at a 4 team playoff.

I agree, this is going one of two ways:
1) He's in talks with the Peach for a permanent spot. From the major bowl perspective, an 8 team playoff, means devaluing thier bowl. Getting a tie in to the Peach, would also mean an AD on the playoff committee.
2) He becomes a P5 commissioner or elite P5 AD
Good God. You people are obtuse. It is unreal. Aresco is part of the system. All of these people are. That is why is is so surprising to see what someone like Danny White is doing.
You have evidence that AResco is not what you want to believe he is, yet you still make excuses for him? I love this board. It is awesome.
Sure—that bullet point is insane. We are not going to get a permanent slot in the Peach. Not anytime soon at least. That said, the idea that Aresco is part of the system designed to keep non-power schools down is equally on the nutty fringe.
It’s clear to me he is being threatened behind the scenes. Likely he is being told that future AAC tv deals or AAC P5 bowls would be in jeopardiy. That’s how the established order always works—behind the scenes, in smokey back rooms, and from behind closed office doors. Why do you think the P5 demanded a selection committee as part of agreeing to a playoff? They wanted a mechanism that was easier to control. Let me know when that committee ever deliberates in public....

Aresco tells ESPN he is against expanding playoff from 4 teams
For God's sake aresco you had these fools dead to rights and you couldn't close the deal. Ucf, Houston, the basketball national championships, navy, you blew all your hard work over the past four years in one week.
RE: Aresco tells ESPN he is against expanding playoff from 4 teams
I fully understand why now. Benson the Sun Belt Commish said as much. It’s about money. The Commissioners are paid by schools and earnings from the winnings of Bowl games etc.
No one wants to buck that system as it could upend the money gravy train Aresco and others are getting.
Always, always follow the money. Aresco is just like the rest of them, he wants to get paid. End of story.

Why is it so insane to think we get a Peach tie in...? Certainly not now, but at next bowl reorg?
We had no chance when the conference was formed, but the situation is **dramatically** different now... we are 3-0 in NY bowls, the Peach sold out, and our ratings are great. Yes it's somewhat of a long shot, but I would not call it impossible.
Negotiate like Trump... shoot for the Peach, and settle for slots from among the Liberty, Citrus, Texas and/or Gator!!

Who gives him the marching orders - the university presidents.
RE: Aresco tells ESPN he is against expanding playoff from 4 teams
Like I said before I think the winner of the G5 should play the the winner of the P5 see who is the best football team in the
FBS .
They may be leaning toward this, then again this would be fair but the boys club is biased and not fair, so let the boys club fight it out. Something will change soon mark my words.

I think he has a backdoor agreement with ESPN for a job and is attempting to screw this conference over in the meantime. I wouldn't be surprised if he attempts to sell us a horrible TV deal to please his new bosses.
Do you truly believe that the AD's are not in constant contact amongst one another as well as with the conference office? At the end of the day the AAC is a business. You cannot run a successful enterprise and not communicate. It's certain that they all talk very regularly.
Wow. All the G5 commissioners pussied out. I’m stunned and concerned. The P5 must have really flexed behind closed doors or something... like threatening to break away completely?
The stars will never be aligned more than now. Aresco is being WAY too conservative. His bosses need to tell him to do what he’s being paid to do which is promote our league and get us in a better situation.
Expand the playoff Mike! Stop with this charade
I think it is a lot more delicate than you are giving it credit for. There is a point of overplaying our hand as well. We have to consider what our actual leverage is...
What if the P5 just decided "screw it" and split off into their own division. What's our actual leverage against that?
I’ve heard that threat for years. They aren’t going anywhere. They would have to split from the NCAA basketball tournament and the CWS in baseball. I don’t see that happening. Plus they would have to play each other every week and beat each other up. Less wins less bowl eligible teams, etc.
I understand the threat but I think it will not happen.

We don't need to lead the charge for expansion, that is what the PAC, B1G, ACC, and B12 are doing tonight as they watch an all SEC product. Our boy just need to get up closer to them and farther away from the G4.

Computer rankings are only as good as the programmer. I'm sure the playoff 5 would ensure the metric was designed to benefit themselves.

His goal was and is for the AAC to move back into the existing power structure that was taken in the last round of conference realignment,, period. The whole p6 campaign agenda is meant to apply pressure through fan acceptance of the AAC brand as a legitimate power by recognizing our accomplishments on the field/court enough for a NY6 bowl to accept us as their anchor conference which would put us back into the p5/6. As you can see as of now the conversation is being steered towards a g5 bid rather than an AAC auto-bid, that's not our goal at all because that would still leave us lumped in with the g5s. So calm down everybody, the man knows what he's doing
