UCF: The most successful AAC football program
The achievements so far:
in the past 5 season:
2 BCS/NY6 bowl appearance and won
2 undisputed AAC conference champ
1 shared conference champ
so it is safe to say ucf football program represents the class of AAC football, when UCF is good, AAC becomes really legit, except that year with Huston.
Over the years, UCF has built a winning program, and they proved they can deliver when it matters the most, I believe this kind atmosphere will carry this program and conference onto the next level.
On the other hand, down the I-4, there is a school called..............

Unlike the usf,..............
This is exactly why i dont root for other aac teams an in fact enjoy seeing them lose. Because them winning means they will have a better shot at a P5 conference than UH.

Yep, smacks of the "Back-to-Back Champions" arrogance a few other Knights had after 2014. We could easily have 'teething issues' under Heupel in 2018. Although I think we'll be back by 2019.

If you are talking about the length of time this conference has been around...sure...but this is classless.

The AAC was tough this year. UCF USF and Memphis all were handfuls..

Agreed. UCF has continued the success they had in CUSA. But there are other programs, particularly Houston that have a strong claim to being “the class of the conference”. IMO that won’t be established for another 10-15 years.

The league is still way to young for a flagship on football. We are all one coach removed from going 10+ wins to trying to win enough t go to a bowl game. There are good programs in this conference with no real clear cut winner.

Houston? Really? While they are a fine program, and have done much for the conference, UCF has been conference champions in football 60% of the time this conference has existed.

RE: UCF: The most successful AAC football program
Some fans may not like to hear it but UCF has been the most successful football program in the AAC. Now the AAC has only existed a few years so that is not saying all that much. Time will tell which program(s) will rise to the top.

RE: UCF: The most successful AAC football program
I hate threads like this.
But, in our short 5 year existence here, we've won 3 conference titles, 2 BCS/NY6 Bowl Games, two Top 10 finishes, and have beaten 3 Top 10 teams, including Baylor and Auburn.
I'd say that is a decent resume.
Since escaping the MAC in 2005, we've won 5 conference titles and played for another 2. Not bad.

RE: UCF: The most successful AAC football program
As has been noted, a number of programs have had success. For consistency, it might just be that Navy has been the flagship. But Houston, UCF, Memphis and Temple deserve mention. USF has been good with Flowers at QB, but how about next year? Jury is still out on whether Strong is capable of keeping them at a consistently high level. SMU just lost a very capable coach who had done wonders bringing SMU back from irrelevancy. Cincy will be back, judging by Coach Fickell's recruiting success in his first two classes and a coaching staff that seems to work well together. The AAC was better in football this year than anyone had reason to expect, and UCF was very, very good. Definitely one of the best handful of teams in America. Congrats, Knights.
