After a rough start to your season, the Herd has looked pretty good.
WKU 38
La Tech 29
WKU continues to find ways to score in the paint, love seeing all the dunks and drives

See you at Diddle, Dawgs.
WKU -6.5 tonight according to Vegas....We will see who has the best guards tonight as this could end up a battle of the two best guard set in CUSA this season...I think WKU's advantage will be down low as JJ and Coleby are bigger in bulk than La. Tech's bigs....
Marshalls two main guards are collectively averaging nearly 43.6 pts, 10.6 assists and 8.1 rebounds a game. I think Marshall has a pretty good case for best guard tandem.

Can a UTSA fan tell me how they feel about Jhivvan Jackson? Unbelievably gifted scorer, but takes a lot of stupid shots. Really quick hands on defense, but statistically an overall terrible defender. Granted he's just a freshman, but I just can't quite figure him out.

Tops barely pull it out against LaTech. 69-68.
Sure wish the NCAA would let us know about our other 2 players. Sucks only having 8 players with one of those being a walk on.

We just can't beat a solid team anymore. Bracy had a poor game for him and why in heck White is playing in the post is very puzzling - we need to let the 2 young guys in Druji and Powell develop and have the minutes if we want to have a shot to do anything this season.
That said good game WKU and your inside players and rebounding tonight was impressive and sealed the deal.

WTF has happened to UTEP? They used to strike fear into every team, including Memphis (well maybe not fear but at least concern), back in the day. Is it just Floyd being gone? Bad interim coaching? Too long without a fresh change?

Did you say this was slow paced? Did you watch the game. That was maybe one of the shortest and most fast paced games you could ever have.

Marshall got SG 6'4 Rondale Watson eligible after the 1st semester. This was his 3rd game of the season and he has already scored 44 points, 10 against Xavier, 12 against EKU and 20 tonight against USM.
If Watson would have played in the Morehead State and WM game we would be sitting at 12-2 right now instead of 10-4.
CJ Burks didn't play tonight he is getting over the flu, its uncertain if he will play Sat against LA Tech. Also it looks like Darius George will be out 3-4 weeks with a stress fracture.

Yep, I watched it on C-USA TV. Marshall played slower than usual. Maybe it was the lack of CJ Burks or the defense by USM, but MU played a different game than they were used to. The first half especially was a grind it out type of game instead of the usual flow that MU plays by. It's not as bad because we still pulled away, but it wasn't that flashy of a game.

It was slow paced, visually. Not a lot of fouls for disruption but both teams were held under their average and the points kind of just sneaked up on the scoreboard. We only had 2 scores off fast breaks, which was very rare. Ball went back and forth a lot over bad passes and steals, without equating to points. Slow pace doesn't mean bad, but we turned over the ball a lot and so did they from sloppy passes and ball handling and the fact that USM had two midget ninjas wreaking havoc on our guards all night with steals. I think also our rebounding was really good and we had a lot of putbacks which gave us points we aren't used to getting which made it seem slower too. The pace looks slow when we aren't running basket to basket and that was clearly the case tonight, even though the points, for us, were there. Elmore took 25 minutes to get warmed up as well, but still managed to sneak in 13 or whatever it was.
The starting lineup and the second line were both configurations we haven't used before, out of necessity with Burkes sick and George with the fracture. So I figured the game would look a little different, but we were still able to coast. Even the radio announcers after the game called it a slow paced game that ended up magically with us having 85 points. It was like a good illusion.
Their #5, Griffin I think, I saw him and immediately thought of Kevin Hart. I couldn't stop laughing, watching him play after that. It's not that he wasn't good I just kept hearing Kevin Hart when something didn't go right and it cracked me up.

This team has shown it can play any style and even win this year. They had crisp and fast paced with a lot of ball movement and beat EKU by 20. They were slowed way down with Chattanooga and beat them at their own game. And tonight with a starter out and a key member of the bench out they played a whole different game. Deliberate ball down the floor with less ball movement and more set plays being run. Jon Elmore only scored 13 points and didn't score until the 2nd half and still came up just 2 rebounds short of a triple double.

Seemed different to me. That was the fastest first half i can recall actual time wise. And i thought we looked good and played well with the new guys getting major minutes. West was amazing in the first half especially. We could honestly be scary good when and if this team "gets hot". Elmore has not been elmore so far, having a good season but compares to what we expect from him, a down year so far.

I rewatched the game last night thinking the calls must have been bad or just bias .....but nope, WKU was just beating Tech to the rim which was causing all the fouls, your coach did a great job with adjustments on offense and defense which seem to level things out. I try to look at games the best i can without my red goggles, but all the trips to the free throw line for WKU was self inflicted by Tech

There were several horrible foul calls. The time when Jean was literally pushed by the WKU player and a block was called on him. The technical on Duriji was bs. Those two stand out but there was more. It was definitely "home cooking". All you can do is hope you get the same at home. The officiating in this league is a joke.

I did not see the push but the tech foul was absolutely legit, after he made a great block and the WKU player was laying on the ground the Tech player got over him and started jawing and talking crap ... I can't believe they didn't call that much faster. There was some missed both ways , one comes to mind, our 23 Justin johnson was being held by a tech player so Justin could not go get a rebound, another was a phantom call against Justin Johnson where he was just standing there and a tech player come flying in over Justin's back basically landing on Justin and they called a foul on Justin? Bad play in the first half by Tech cost the game for you guys and tired legs by WKU in the 2nd half almost cost WKU the game
