RE: 8-5
I feel a bowl win next year. Seems like the arrow is pointing up. No other good reason. I am not smart enough to know any good reason to predict a bowl win much less bowl eligibility. I just feel a bowl victory. A bowl victory would probably assure that Carey gets an extension. Maybe another job offer?

RE: 8-5
I’m the one who changed Carey’s bowl record from 0-4 to 0-5 on his Wikipedia page. It made me feel really good.

I thought we were never playing less than 6 home games anymore.
Don't ever believe the athletic department.
And Toledo has 7 home games.
I can't wait for that ticket info! I'll be watching my mailbox daily!!

It has to be 1 ticket per game.

They were trying to get the DB who mugged the gunner on the last punt to get a pass interference call to get a first down.
Did it work? No, but now that I know there was a specific reason for doing this, I am not as upset about WHY they tried it. That took balls to call.
Duke was holding SS on every play, it seemed. No flags.
Stop whining, start supporting. Was the end of the season a disappointment? Sure. Did Hall get 3 more weeks of practice in prior to spring ball? Yep.
Sorry, but how does knowing the "specific reason" not make you upset about WHY they tried it? (1) You're down 7-0, (2) it's the first quarter, (3) it's 4th and 18 from (4) your own 11, you've got (5) a freshman punter throwing to (6) a defensive back, and you're counting on (7) the defense to be stupid enough to commit a penalty plus you're counting on (8) the officials to call it (despite (9) having seen no flags on numerous Duke holds) ...... how many ridiculous aspects does it take to add up to insanity rather than balls? There's a reason the color commentator called it "the bonehead play of the year."
Even coming off a losing season, where did you see 2-10 or 3-9 as preseason predictions? Aside from Eastern Illinois, who convinced you NIU could only win one or two games in MAC play? Heck, after the win over Nebraska in game three, there were numerous posts about running the table or an Access Bowl berth.

I attended Akron-Toledo before leaving at half to drive to NIU-BG. Parked for free, and was even handed a free ticket walking in by a worker. $0 tix+parking. Probably the only time that will happen in my life. Loved it.

Finding out what they were thinking makes it even more frustrating. They essentially tried what TVtropes refers to as a Batman gambit. That is where the success of your plan depends on your opponent being an unknowing participant.

It might have been good to pick on the DB on down 1-3, but to do it on a punt from your own endzone is just too risky.
