RE: 2020 and 2021 Football Schedules

New Mexico State is either moving to a conference or keeping a tight lip on future schedules. After 2019, they have four schools lined up for games in 2020, five in 2021, and three or less in the years beyond. I would have expected LU and UMass to be regulars on their schedule with occasional appearances from BYU.
I wasn't looking forward to a rivalry with NMSU but a regular on the schedule is welcomed no matter who. Likewise, I respect our future annual series with UMass as we would both rather be somewhere else but are unwanted so we wait. We aren't a pair in much at all but we are both outcasts looking for a home so let's play and see what develops.

RE: 2020 and 2021 Football Schedules
Looking at future schedules, I am disappointed to see multiple FCS schools on the schedule up through 2020. We need to build a winning culture but beating a handful of cupcakes isn't the recipe necessary in my opinion.
Hopefully our P5 frequency is not reduced to anything less than three a year with one home. I would prefer as many as possible for the exposure. If we want to be a P5, we ought to act like one.

Yes, it’s disappointing, but understandable. I am okay with it the first three years of the program. We’ll see how the schedule looks from 2021 on. In my opinion, there should be zero FCS schools on our schedule. But as long as we do, I hope it is exclusively VA, A-Sun, or BSC schools.

There are no ASUN football teams, the ASUN doesn’t sponsor football, they would be Big South in football. However, for the first 5 years or so, I would expect multiple FCS games. After that, I would say, one will be there every year. Playing P5 schools is going to require a lot of 2-1 agreements and the FCS teams make that obtainable.

I was referring to Stetson and Jacksonville. They in different conferences as well, but I meant teams that play in the A-Sun. I imagine we couldn’t play Jack or Stetson anyway based on their non-scholly status.

So true! Now just need to hire a P5 level coaching staff.
