Wow, I guess after losing 8 straight games they took some frustrations out on whoever the hell Mid-Atlantic Christian is. 112-34?!?! Is that right?

State also just lost on a buzzer beater three to Niagara. We had best come ready to play because they will be fired up!

Ya, I've been by their "campus" before. It's like <200 students. Smaller than most of our middle and high schools.

I’m glad Jones said this game at the scope will most likely not continue. Although I agree if we’re going to schedule a MEAC team it should be NS. But like every other MEAC team we play, the game should be at the TED. This is a no win game - our RPI will go down regardless of the outcome.

And now you know why P5's don't schedule us. It's the exact same argument for them.

Exactly. We talk down at other programs but P5s do the same to us. Some just don't wanna admit it lol

Not sure i follow your logic. Our RPI is higher than 7 ACC teams. One of which is VA Tech who has played Detroit Mercy, Citadel, Redford and MD Eastern Shore so far this year.

I would say that we have a couple main challenges in scheduling P5 games. One is that we are not looking for cash games on their floor without a return game to the Ted. The other is that we have proven that in some years we are good enough to beat P5 teams but it is admittedly not considered a high quality win for a P5 school to beats us.

I know this is getting into the weeds here but just saying a blanket statement that our RPI is better than 7 ACC teams isn't the argument I'm making. If you are satisfied bringing in Wake Forest or Pitt, so be it. I don't think that's what people are asking for. I realize I said P5's but the argument people are trying to make is to get the quality P5's.
I can flip this around. If our RPI is higher than 7 ACC teams, why would we want to change anything at all? Sounds like our administration gets the formula.
By the way, Lipscomb's (that's an Atlantic Sun team) RPI is 30. Should we aim to schedule them instead?

And by the end of the year, the number of ACC teams our RPI will likely be higher than will be much less than 7, no matter how we perform in conference. It is unlikely we can finish in the top 50 unless we have no more than 2 losses in conference. That is the inherent advantage of the P5. Middling ACC schools can get away with scheduling more cupcakes and make it up by performing at around .500 in conference and get a bid because they play teams like Duke, UNC, Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and Miami and their RPI goes up in conference. They can afford to lay an egg here and there and they will most definitely get a top 20 team that lays an egg on them, perhaps even on the road, and they get to call it a marquee win.
We are neither a cupcake nor a potential resume game. If we can perform at a top 50 level over several years, we can become a resume game and get more P5 schools willing to play us like they did during the height of BT's era, but as of now, there is no incentive to put us on their schedule.

I guess we'll have to disagree on some of this. I would absolutely take Wake, NC State, Boston College or Pitt on a home and home deal. I think we have to be realistic about who we are. The only way we are going to schedule top level P5 games is on a cash game at their place which i would just as soon do without.

+1
Wake, NCSU, BC, and Pitt would all be great opponents for a home and home with ODU.

Take 'em in a heart beat
P5's don't have to be top tier. In fact winnable lower tier games would be better. Unfortunately these are exactly the teams who don't want to play us.
