Disney/ESPN buying Fox RSN's may give CUSA a better option.
With ESPN getting Fox's Regional Sports Networks and CUSA hasn't signed on to a new TV deal, I have to wonder if CUSA could turn to ESPN where CUSA games with be part of the new RSN's acquisition.
While Fox wasn't interested in CUSA, this new acquisition may turn CUSA to ESPN and have CUSA as content for the various RSN's.

RE: Disney/ESPN buying Fox RSN's may give CUSA a better option.
I used to really like having games on Fox regional channels when we weren't on ESPN 1 or 2 back in the old days before ESPNU was a thing or really ESPN3. The MAC must have had Fox in a lower tier because I know we played on the regional Ohio and a few others. I also think being in a Southeast/South/Southwest based conference we could get good regional ratings setup and have the kind of local advertising and interest that can help build fan interest in our product with fans that would be close enough to actually go see some of these teams live. Would love to start getting Friday/Saturday games on regional channels, with like a CUSA game of the week on one of the main platforms.
That's exactly what built our brand in the 90s and early 00s, except it was Thursday/Saturday and the NFL wasn't on Thursdays back then. Money isn't really an issue anymore as we don't get any anyway.
I also wondered why we couldn't get delayed airings on games somewhere. Like a contracted streamed game at gametime, but sell the replayed games for like Sunday night at midnight on the regional channels or something supercheap when not much else is going on, sportswise. I often will flip through and watch a late game replay like that if I didn't see it earlier in the weekend. And trust me, a lot of people are not seeing our games earlier in the weekend.

I wonder if it would be strategic now for CUSA to go to 16 by adding NMSU and Texas St. That gives 6 teams within the SW RSN footprint.

If two more teams that far west are added it will be because the East teams voted to get out of Texas and form their own conference, or it will be the cause of that happening.

ESPN3 provides a very poor streaming product. Watching games on the BEIN network online and our Facebook game were both superior services compared to ESPN3.

The quality of ESPN3's streaming solely depends on the quality of the audio/video/telecom resources the schools provide/use right???

Not entirely. Some MW games I have seen are poorer quality than via the MW site or Stadium. I don't think ESPN platform is great with how much it buffers or degradation of video.
May Disny buying BamTech will resolve that.

The conference has 5 teams now as most carriers in the Louisiana Tech market carry the Fox SW primary feed except when the New Orleans subfeed is active.

Yes. CUSA's case is same as Sun Belt. ESPN3 is staffed entirely by the school, meaning they either go crazy and hire their own people to run the broadcast, or they let students do it. Sometimes ESPN will hire on air talent, but even that's not a guarantee.

My guess, yes it gets you on TV. However, I think all G5s will see their deals be about the same as they are today with a COLA. So, I see the Sun Belt and CUSA getting the same as they do now and the AAC going crazy when ESPN tells them here is our offer and feel free to see where you can go and do better.

The stream quality from the school can be crystal clear. But when ESPN's streaming servers crash as happened several times during this football season, nobody can watch.
ESPN better be completely rebuilding its entire streaming platform for its new online rollout. Otherwise it will continue to provide an inferior streaming product.
