This was a damn good team that JMU played tonight!

That was not a bad team. But the two dakotas we have between us and the NC are MUCH better.

you are a buzzkill! WTF!
I'm sorry. Not my intent. The finish was awesome, but you asked what more could anyone want. They barely beat the #4 team in the MVFC. I was disappointed in the number of fans at the game as well. The Dukes should be better than that. But none of that will matter last week. Playoffs are all about survive and advance!

Weber St were “co-champs” of the Big Sky Conference. Not in MVFC.

I know that. But last week Weber State barely beat the #4 team in the MVFC at home. And we barely beat that team. Using the transitive property we are equivalent to the #4 team in the MVFC. A team that lost to the two teams we likely have to beat to win the national championship. And the Big Sky is not a very good conference this year. Their #3 team lost big to a non-scholarship team who then lost by 35 to NDSU.

So if the Dukes are a serious title contender, this should not have been a difficult game. But again, that doesn't matter. It's survive and advance. The next two games will be very difficult and take a much better game than we played tonight against much better teams than we played all season.

Once again, your comments are inaccurate. Weber State won its previous game on the road at the Big Sky co-champ, Southern Utah, who was 9-2, and WSU won convincingly by 17 points...again, on the road. You are talking about their 1st round game.

Last night was extra bad. I don't know why they play hype music when we're about to take the field on offense. I don't know why the band plays when the offense is about to snap the ball.

The band couldn't have had a more unimaginative halftime show last night. Hey guys - we're getting deep into the post season, uh, let's play the same music we play at pregame and the same stuff we play every year at halftime because we're missing a few musicians. The NFL recently named JMU's band one of the top 5 bands in the country, but all they're capable of playing at halftime is the fight song and Get It On. Give me a break.

I guess you all are proving my point. The Big Sky has had a few down years and don't do well against better out of conference opponents. To say they beat their conference co-champ on the road isn't necessarily a great accomplishment. If their QB hadn't been hurt the first time they play, Weber is likely the outright conference champs. They are a good team, but not elite. Outside of JMU the CAA isn't exactly a great conference right now either. It's one of the better conferences but overall not great.

A team that is a favorite to win the national championship like JMU should not struggle that much against Weber State. I didn't expect a blowout, but I did expect a 10-14 point win. Look at what NDSU did to Wofford and SDSU did to UNH. That is what elite teams do in the playoffs to non-elite teams. I guarantee if JMU plays like it did yesterday the SDSU game will not be close. I really hope that doesn't happen.

First, if JMU puts up 500+ yards of offense on SDSU and has an advantage in time of possession you can be sure the game will be close, no matter what SDSU brings.

Secondly, I doubt we will witness a repeat of the JMU defensive mistakes made in the Weber game.

Lastly, Champions find ways to win, even when down 8 with 3 minutes to play.

JMU rolls. See everyone in Texas.

Weber played really well. I think a lot of us can acknowledge that. There are some things we need to improve (that's probably an understatement).

But, I see some sense of doom and gloom from a few posters because we won ugly. (Even in the game thread I saw a post or two lamenting the season when it was a one possession game.) I don't know if it's because of how nearly flawless our last playoff run was, but everybody should remember there's value in winning ugly and most championship runs require some luck and some gutty victories. Back in 2004, I don't remember people being down on the team after stealing the game at Furman. I remember folks praising the guts that it took to score from goal to go even though we took more than four downs to do it. (Somebody correct me if I'm way off or mixing up my games; I just remember feeling like we kinda stole that one.)

If you ask most coaches, they'd tell you a team wins more from a loss than a win. And, in this case, our excellent staff and team gets all that benefit of learning from mistakes without actually losing the game and ending the season. Look at it this way, nobody from UNC was giving up on their squad after they squeaked out the win against Arkansas in the second round this past year. They built off that close win and it drove them to beat four straight excellent teams en route to a national title. For us, our guys now have to beat an excellent team this weekend to get to Frisco. And, because of the challenge this week, I think they're going to come out even more mentally ready to do it.

That was Lehigh where Mick ran it off tackle for 7 plays in a row on the 1 before we punched it in. But yeah, your point stands.

SDSU is good, but they played a couple of crap games this year too. Their D isn't great, and they inexplicably scored under 20 against Youngstown in a loss (7) and UNI in a loss (17). If those D's can shut them down, there's no question ours can. And for all of our injuries, we still moved the ball up and down the field. NO WAY we lose this game by more than a score, but I like our chances to be headed to Frisco.

No idea why because I'm nowhere near Minnesota. My ISP is Uverse so maybe they are using a gateway in Minnesota. Sorry. Not a troll. I don't have time for that crap. I'm just worried about how the Dukes played last week and hope they don't do it again this week.

Using the distributive (or whatever) property to say "we suck" is about as valid as using that same property for "we beat bama"...

This.

I was admittedly rather surprised (worried sick) by what I saw, but that’s a damn good team.

We are too. We/the guys gutted it out, I can’t ask for anything more.

37 YO Quarterback and a D probably on par with ours, I’ll take a FG win every week if needed.

14-13 would be just fine for that matter. Worked just fine before ifn’s I recall correctly.

As said, right now it’s all about survive and advance. Whooooole lotta people sitting home right now!
