You have had a sensational 5 or 6 year run with one coach. Will you be Gonzaga? Or will Marshall leave at some point and fade away. The recruiting gap is narrowed due to the blue bloods and their early NBA entries.

They have had good players before. We has some nice teams who competed pretty well in 2006 (Sweet 16), and some others who competed well in the NIT but were never nationally celebrated. Gabe Blair (an ECU transfer) was a very nice, big, versatile, athletic player on our NIT Championship Team who, in 2010-11 catapulted us into the national spotlight and started our national run that has lasted until today.

The problem for ECU or good point for WSU was that Gabe Blair came off of the bench and was one of 10 other nice players (one on that team played in the NBA for a short spell), and probably 5-6 players off of that team earned All League awards and had foreign professional careers. Gabe was one of many good players on that team.

Kansas basketball is second to none, and competition for players has always been fierce. But we have to admit that KU didn't give Ron Baker a 2nd thought. They wanted Fred VV but they were late to the party and he didn't give them a chance. K-State isn't in the same thoughts as KU and WSU (they beat us on an instate Top 100 Western Ks. kid who grew up a KSU fan) but KU doesn't recruit the same kids as we have and that is still that way. Give ECU some time, and maybe they will improve their standing in the American but I agree with them that they can't compete with Duke and N.C. for the Top 50 kids. Maybe, they can build it up enough to get the other N.C. kids who are good instead of them leaving the state for other better basketball programs in the region.

the debate isnt a big deal...ecu fans are about to play cambell, cambell's best player (24ppg) almost came to ecu if ecu offered

that if ecu had gotten him and Ky Bowman, who they also almost landed (a 2star guard at bc, currently doing 15 per game )

I think that Gonzaga and WSU are interchangeable. I don't think that Marshall will leave for another program, because we have a great fit for him (Huggy wouldn't have fit in just anywhere either), but if he does, I don't think we drop off of the face of the earth. We were good in before Marshall under Turgeon, and have had other good Top 15 multi year national runs prior to that. I think that Memphis will be back, and I think that WSU has the leadership, and community backing with the fore-sight to keep things going in a Top 50 or even better fashion.

Have you ever heard of Colt Ryan or DJ Balentine? If not, don't worry, they were 2 guards that played for Evansville and scored 20-30 points pretty much every game. How'd they do it? The offense was centered around them getting all the shots. They ran through multiple screens on every possession. They were the focus of every defense simply because they were the offense for Evansville (first Ryan, then Balentine took over the role when Ryan graduated). Neither of these guys got a sniff of the NBA. I doubt any WSU coaches wished they had either of these over our guys who averaged 12-15 pts a game - oh those guys were named Baker and VanVleet and are both NBA guys.
