Yes I found the averages:

CUSA
81. UAB (6) - 26,375
86. UTSA (5) - 22,821
87. North Texas (6) - 22,362
88. Marshall (6) - 21,741
89. Southern Miss (6) - 21,711
93. Louisiana Tech (7) - 20,375
95. Old Dominion (6) - 20,118
99. UTEP (5) - 19,548
101. Rice (5) - 19,354
102. Florida Atlantic (6) - 18,568
116. Western Kentucky (6) - 15,706
117. Middle Tennessee (6) - 15,620
121. Florida International (6) - 14,333
126. Charlotte (6) - 11,903

SUN BELT
82. Appalachian State (5) - 26,262
83. Troy (6) - 24,456
85. Arkansas State (4) - 23,019
105. Texas State (6) - 17,447
106. South Alabama (6) - 17,345
111. Georgia State (4) - 16,250
112. New Mexico State (4) - 16,232
115. Louisiana-Lafayette (5) - 15,751
118. Georgia Southern (4) - 15,258
119. Coastal Carolina (5) - 14,761
129. Idaho (6) - 10,533
130. Louisiana-Monroe (5) - 9,928

We were #3 in CUSA, we would have been right behind ArkSt in the SBC.

Yes, we get to play a lot of Texas teams. I don't look down at the SBC at all, it was a great home for us, but I do love being in a conference with Rice, UTEP, and UTSA. All of them have a lot of alumni in DFW. LaTech is close by and also has a lot of alumni in the area. We have a long term deal with SMU. We also try to schedule a Texas FCS (Texas Souther, Lamar, Abilene Christian, IWU, Houston Baptist, etc.) every year. Texans like to watch Texas teams play other Texas teams.

ETA: We have also signed a home/home with Texas Tech and Houston.

I don't think 22,362 is bad when you consider we had gone 10-27 (.270) in the previous 3 years, and 41-104 (with exactly one winning season) in the last 12. We did have 27K+ at the last two homes games, so hopefully the casual alumni is finally perking up in interest.

I never had anything against UNT leaving for CUSA. It only made sense for UNT to go to a conference with UTEP, Rice, and UTSA coming in. North Texas had zero in-state rivals, even in basketball, in the Sun Belt. The good thing for Texas State currently is that they have UTA as their in-state rival in all other sports.

Now... MT, WKU, and the F_U's... I never liked how they turned a cold shoulder on the Sun Belt. It worked out great for the SBC in hindsight by getting programs like App State, Georgia Southern, and Georgia State and we got to get rid of some dead weights... but at that time, it seemed real shady by those schools.

On Florida Atlantic's behalf, FIU announced it was leaving the Sun Belt to join CUSA on May 4, 2012 (as did North Texas). We were essentially not only losing our closest regional conference member, but our rival as well. It was not until Tulane and East Carolina (football) announced their move to the AAC on November 27, 2012 that we announced our move to CUSA (as did Middle Tennessee) on November 29, 2012 (7 months later) to join our rival. And yes, I understand talks went on before these announcements, but our departure was more of a reaction to FIU leaving the Sun Belt and wanting to join them.

Troy's top receiver and top cornerback are out with injuries (Emanuel Thompson and Blace Brown). Our top deep threat receiver is also out. Another receiver, a red-shirt senior is also out. So we're really short staffed there.

The upside is that Chunn and Henderson are healthy. Also way fewer defensive guys out than I had previously thought. Only one it seems. Big loss, but the front seven remains in tact.

I’m not too confident in our offense ability right now. Tho UNT hasn’t got a great defense they are gonna know we have to run it

Their run defense is small and beyond awful. They'll stack the box to stop Chunn, and Willis, Douglas, and Mccormick will get open. We are very capable at receiver. Blace Brown and Weatherspoon being out is more of a concern.

Douglas, Mccormick, Johnson, and Davis are basically last year's playmakers. They will shine.

It might be nothing more than Texan Egotism, but it doesn't make it any less true.

If you look at our top crowds all time is it almost entirely other Texas teams. Second highest attended game was between a 3 win NT team and a 2 win Baylor team. Highest attendance at our new stadium was versus Houston. That will probably be broken either when they come back, or when Texas Tech plays here. Even UTEP always draws a decent crowd even though one or both of us has usually been terrible when we play.

I think most NT fans would be happy to welcome Texas State or UT-Arlington to the conference for no more reason than they have Texas in their name.

Curious, what was the diagnosis on Blace Brown? I rewatched that play a few times and still couldnt figure out what happened to him.

Not sure. He came back to the game after the injury which is what had me confused.
