Washington vs Notre Dame vs TCU for last Access Bowl spot ...
Will probably go to: Washington, as they have 1 fewer loss than either TCU or Notre Dame.
Should go to: Notre Dame. They played a far tougher schedule (Sagarin says #2 in the country), lost only to very good teams, and beat the PAC champ that Wisconsin didn't even have to face in conference.
TCU has two very good losses against playoff-bound Oklahoma, but the loss to Iowa State is hard to explain.
The CFP dropped Notre Dame too far last week after their loss to Stanford, perhaps they correct the mistake today?

Washington should get it.

They lost to Iowa St. on the road by 7 when they turned the ball over a bunch of times, the same 7-5 Iowa St. team that beat the likely #2 team, Oklahoma? How is that inexplicable? You seem to be stuck in a prior year. Losing by 31 to a 7-5 team is inexplicable as Ohio St. did.

But it will almost certainly be Washington. They are just behind TCU who lost badly. Notre Dame is well down in the rankings.

I agree that Washington is likely to get it. But it's hard to make a case for them. Very soft OOC schedule, and they didn't even play the PAC champ within their conference. No good wins at all except for Washington State, and a bad loss to a weak Arizona State team.
Notre Dame's resume is better.

TCU fan here, and I don’t know what they’ll do. TCU didn’t do itself well yesterday with that blowout loss. Notre Dame and Washington got dinged with Miami (ND) and Stanford (both) losing, but Notre Dame got some of that back with USC and Georgia winning.
In the end, it may up being which Bowl is getting that last team, and who the opponent is. I know people are going to say that’s not how it works, but when you have humans make the decisions, there’s always subjectivity that comes into play.
Right now, I have the Peach Bowl and UCF so it makes sense for TCU to be the opponent, since the travel isn’t that bad, and it’s not a blue blood to go up against UCF.
Personally, as a TCU fan, I would rather go to the Alamo Bowl against Washington/Stanford.

If an Oh state blowout loss to Iowa doesn't count, why should a loss to Iowa State.

#1 Clemson vs #4 Bama (Rose Bowl because Bama would have a more vocal crowd in New Orleans)
#2 OU vs #3 UGa (Sugar, Prime time offensive showdown)
#5 OSU vs #11 Miami (Orange)
#6 USC vs #8 Wisconsin (Fiesta)
#7 Auburn vs #12 Washington (Cotton)
#9 UCF vs #10 PSU (Peach)

Isn’t it the objective to have the best match-ups? If that’s the case, I would probably switch Washington and Penn St. That’s where the opponent and location comes into play for that last team. I’m not saying I disagree with you, just think that’s something the committee will take into account.

Just like Alabama should get the 4th spot over Ohio St, ND should get the 12th spot over Washington. However due to politics, Ohio st and Washington will get it. With USC not being in the playoffs, the PAC will get that extra NY6 slot

I struggled with PSU/Wash. Wash played in the Peach last year, will they send them there again? Otherwise you can put UCF in the Cotton. Either or is good.

UCF has to go to Peach. Cotton will get G5 in 2 years

IF the CFP is
1. Clemson
2. Oklahoma
3. Georgia
4. Bama
Than the Orange Bowl should be Miami vs Big Ten.... which would allow Notre Dame a spot in the Citrus Bowl. That allows for UW to play TCU! Easy win for everyone!

Not that I agree with the rankings, but here are my guesses for the NY6 lineup:
#1 Clemson (12-1) - Rose
#2 Oklahoma (12-1) - Sugar
#3 Georgia (12-1) - Sugar
#4 Ohio State (11-2) - Rose
#5 Alabama (11-1) - Orange
#6 Wisconsin (12-1) - Cotton
#7 Auburn (10-3) - Peach
#8 USC (11-2) - Fiesta
#9 Penn State (10-2) - Fiesta
#10 Miami (10-2) - Orange
#11 Washington (10-2) - Peach
#12 UCF (12-0) - Cotton

Exactly. And how is getting completely blown out by Oklahoma a "good" loss.

I believe if the Orange is taking a Big 10 team, it has to be the highest ranking team.

Correct. If Ohio State doesn't make the playoffs, they will be in the Orange Bowl.
