SMU is a bit surprising. They were fun to watch this year.

This was maybe the worst weather season Memphis has had in quite some time. A lousy excuse, but there’s no doubt it affected our attendance.

It's even lower when you account for S. Florida's ACTUAL average attendance of 24,000.

I wish those were actual attendance numbers. Seems like fans are just not interested any more.

ECU's is a lie. The last two games we may not have had 15000 actual attendance.

They are all "announced attendance" numbers.....none are actual attendance.

It's not a lie but for all of these there needs to be a disclaimer that these numbers account only for tickets distributed, ie season ticket base, even if those ticket holders didn't show. Not actual asses in seats. Our attendance the last couple of games I was able to go to was the worst I've seen in my 25 years going to ECU games. But I was lucky enough to be stationed out of the area for the Thompson years so I can't account for those.

11:00 am kickoffs are a killer. The Texas Tech and East Carolina games were dangerously hot. And then Navy at 11 am on a Friday. Ugh.
We had ONE Saturday night 7 pm kickoff (Rice) which coincidentally was our highest attended game... and Navy brought more fans to TDECU than Rice.

For some reason, Memphis announced actual attendance this season, rather than tix sold, as most do.
Example: We sold 22,500 season tickets. Yet our Harvey monsoon game, we announced 10K+. And our other all day downpour and cold front game, we announced 17K+.
For the other 5 games, we had from 41K to 46K. Conference only, the monsoon game was OOC, and the other was a conference game, iirc.

Look, he MADE that disclaimer. The OP says "announced" attendance, and we all know announced attendance is the inflated, tickets-given-away number, so there wasn't anything deceptive about the post at all.

Saying that without saying what everyone else's ACTUAL attendance was is making a deceptive apples/oranges comparison. Post the ACTUAL numbers for everyone else, then get back to me.

Yes I know, I was replying to PirateJim’s post. He said ECU’s numbers were a lie. I know we announce tix sold. Meaning the disclaimer should come from ECU so fans not in the know on this such as PirateJim have that info. Had nothing to do with the OP’s statement really. Was specific to ECU.

Tulsa took a great conference home schedule and squandered it away with a horrible team performance. At least they gave us the Houston win at home. But still. What a waste.
