The WAC as it is right now is still the laughing stock of college basketball. Many people don't even know it exists. I didn't really know until I moved to Bakersfield honestly. The reaction on social media has been universally positive for CSUB fans. A lot of fans are very excited to go to road games like myself and have local rivalries. The WAC is done man. NMSU isn't waiting for D2 moveups a second go around. They are probably incensed right now. D2 moveups also take time. They aren't joining this year or next. UCSD isn't joining until 2020 so you're probably looking at 2021 if they get someone in the spring. The WAC is not surviving with these members until 2021. No D1 school is interested at all. Plus does Cal Baptist even count towards an autobid when on transition? I've heard conflicting opinions. You're going to be in for a very rude awakening. NMSU and GCU right now are using their clout to bail as we speak. Thank God we got out. Just hoping the Big West has a clause where if the WAC implodes we can play early which they probably do.

I get that CSUB is set to transition in 2020, but has anybody contacted the Big West to see if they'll take Clarity now? #goodriddance

**** you too buddy and the corporation you root for. Hopefully the Grand Canyon Corporation is stranded on an island and can't get in a conference.

RE: CSUB Moving to the Big West in 2020
I used to hate GCU based on their fans ( the students were arrogant but NMSU kicked GCU's ass in LC so it was good), but I met some cool GCU parents so now they are cool. I used to like CSUB, but some of their fans are pretty arrogant and full of themselves. Sad day for me when GCU has more respect than CSUB to me.

At this point, Cal State Bakersfield's success no longer benefits the WAC. Of course I want NMSU to win the WAC regular season and tournament... however now, I will root for any WAC team playing against CSUB. We need to send CSUB packing without another WAC banner to hang.

(11-28-2017 03:12 PM)Clarity Wrote:  That is just not true. Our AD yesterday just said he has big plans for the facilities including the Icardo Center. We just got a massive video board this season. With the saved money on travel it will be going towards this. Plus CSUB sold out half the games last year and will sell out most this year. How many Big West schools can say that?

Doubt much changes wrt to the facilities. Maybe some cool graphics/banners and new paint, but a complete overhaul probably won't happen. I bet a bulk of that travel savings is going to go right back into the CSUB general fund where it belongs.

Hate to sound negative but that comes with the BW territory. This move means Bako doesn't have to invest in facilities (just look at the list Pistol provided) and won't be required to. IMO that is one of the biggest draw backs to going BW, it's a "just happy to be here" kind of conference with zero innovation and initiative. Sure there may be a few exceptions, but Bako won't be one of them.

Hell you guys just cut 2 core BW sports, no way that travel savings is put back into other athletic programs.

RE: CSUB Moving to the Big West in 2020
I personally love the WAC and have been proud as a GCU to fan to be part of the resurgence. I don't think the sky is falling and think the WAC will be just fine with Cal Baptist coming in next season, barring any other teams defecting. As many of you probably noticed, I don't post here much. I love this board and all the fans of the WAC teams even Frank! I stay away because of one poster. If there is any benefit to this move for the WAC it's that we don't have to deal with Clarity much longer. Bye Felicia!
P.S. Runner, I will miss your smart posts and humor.

Clarity making it sound like they are going to be stealing recruits from UCLA and USC now that they are in the Big West. LOL !. Well your facilities match all the other high school gyms in the Big West. Anyway, congrats on conference stability, even if it is a $hitty conference that one cares about. The Big Pest is going to the Big West! Yahoo!

Congrats on being homeless again! Or I guess you can enjoy some more D2 moveups! I'm sure that will sell out the Pan Am. Hope you are stuck on the outside looking in when the WAC implodes. I'll pop in to rub it in your sad pathetic face don't worry.

So head to head, between CSUB, UC Irvine, and UC Davis, who is better? I am not sure how well CSUB will fit into the BW. At least in the WAC they have a chance at getting to the Big Dance. I don't see CSUB doing as well as they hope in the BW.

I have no doubt you'll rub it in because your a dickhead. If you have a sense of decency CP you won't warn me and you won't delete my response. No one is homeless. Trust me, NMSU is fine for now in the WAC and as an independent for the next couple of years in football. What's funny is the Pan Am half filled up is still 3 times as many people you get at your games in that $hitty high school gym. Oh, I forgot, your going to be rolling in money now that you save so much on travel in the Big West!Epic Applause BTW, you were one of those D2 move ups too, remember?

At least can sell out our "high school gym". Nobody in Las Cruces gives a rats ass about NMSU anymore. There were a couple hundred people for a must win football game last week. Sad!

I was there douchbag. Entire west side press box side was full. Easily over 13000 at game. Anyway, arguing with you is like arguing with my fecal matter as it twirls itself down the toilet. BTW, you had to move out of that downtown arena cause no one in Bakersfield cares about your team. Oh wait, you average 2000 a game. Yippee! Sure your going to get all those 5 star recruits now that your in the Big West Big Pest!04-bow

I'm guessing Bako will hold their own in MBB so long as Barnes stays. Runner baseball will be in for some rough times though. BW baseball is no joke, to be honest I don't think they will be more than a middle of the road program in that conference.

I don't know the Runner programs very well, but I expect them to struggle across he board in the other Oly sports. BW LA teams are literally recruiting from top athletes right in their backyard. Bako will now have to convince those same athletes into long bus rides over the vine just to be on the same level as their future conference counterparts.

RE: CSUB Moving to the Big West in 2020
I personally think this is a bad move for Cal State Bako. Besides finance wise what is the upswing? None really atleast in the WAC Bakersfields brand was out there. Now in the BW it will be deluded with all the other Cal States and UCs. I hate to see Bakersfield leave because they where begining to flourish as a WAC contender. However, it is what it is and now the WAC will have to move on. Personally I do not think NMSU or GCU leaves for another conference and as long as the WAC has an Auto Bid there will be schools wanting in.

Atleast we have a football program. Even if its a losing program does alot for brand recognition. We've been in Video games pal. Our brand will always be bigger than Bakersfields.
