Congratulations to Buckminster Fuller, 2017 ACC Pickem Champion
CollegeCard mounted a valiant comeback, but his hopes for overtaking Buckminster Fuller were dashed when Kansas State came from behind to nip Iowa State with a touchdown at the wire. Had the Cyclones held on, the season championship would have come down to the Notre Dame-Stanford game. But that is now moot. Even if the Cardinal were to win, those two players would tie for the most wins, but Bucky would win by virtue of holding the tie breaker - number of weekly wins.
The weekly contest is still up in the air, with several players tied going into the two evening games. But the engraver is busy at work etching Bucky's name on the coveted Pickem Trophy. The winners to date have been:
2017 Buckminster Fuller
2016 ken d
2015 CollegeCard
2014 Kaplony
2013 4x4hokies
2012 ecuacc4ever
Kudos, Bucky!

RE: Congratulations to Buckminster Fuller, 2017 ACC Pickem Champion
When all the dust finally settled, we had the tighest race in ACC Pickem history. The final standings, for those players who played enough weeks to qualify for the title, are as follows. Weekly win totals are shown in parentheses.
Buckminster Fuller......122 (4)
CollegeCard...............122 (3)
4x4hokies..................121 (3)
Bigtexnole.................115 (4)
Ole Blue....................113 (1)
samandrea................109
ken d........................109 (1)
Wilkie01....................106 (1)
Lenvillecards..............106
ChrisLords..................105
CollegeCard's valiant comeback earned him the win for Week 13 with a 12-3 record, edging out ChrisLords and 4x4hokies who had 11 correct picks. But, alas, it wasn't quite enough to get his name on the (virtual) trophy.
Thanks to all who played in this year's contest, including those who weren't able to play every week. It was fun.
I posted on the realignment board that I will have a Bowl Pickem, including all 78 teams, just as soon as we know who those teams are. Several teams will be in the running to get screwed in the selection process next week. Since this will heavily involve every conference, and not be dominated by ACC games, it seemed appropriate to run it on that forum instead of this one. Everybody is welcome to play.
Hope you'll join us.

Ouch. Congrats to Buckminster on the title!
It sounds like I was done in by KSU's touchdown with no time left on the clock against ISU last night. So it goes.

Exactly. That and the ISU coach's poor clock management decisions near the end. if KSU doesn't score a touchdown, you would have made up a full five games on the leader on the last day. That's what makes college football so interesting for me. Great job all year.
