RE: Colgate gamethreads
I was finally able to see a full game from the students' section tonight. The Broncos dominated the first 5 or 10 minutes, had all the momentum, and Ben gave up two soft goals on two shots. We continued to drive the pace, and at intermission we'd outplayed them, but were down a goal.
The second period we continued to outplay Colgate. Even though we were now ahead by one at the second intermission, the team still felt like it's back was against the wall, heading into the locker room to chants of "Andy Murray!" as coach upbraided an official. The play he was currently upset with was a collision involving our forward and Colgate's goalie, resulting in our forward being cross-checked a couple times by said goalie. It happened fast, but the cross-checks may have been earned. What we were really still a bit upset about was the Bafia slashing penalty where Luke stick-checked a man. The ensuing penalty kill resulted in a goal, with the Lunatics suggesting that the ref credit himself with an assist.
The Broncos continued to dominate the third period, dipping deep into the bench with fresh players who could now easily outskate Colgate's studs (and who had great hands) ... Look at the 5:25-to-go mark of the third period. Colgate got away with having too many men on the ice. Fortunately, this was quickly followed up by a nice little tripping call that we capitalized on!
Overall, the refs redeemed themselves, giving both teams equal grief. We hustled harder, with better hands, and had many more scoring chances. Vs. #18, our conditioning was superior and our hands and positioning were better. I had confidence in our team when we were down 2-1 after the first. We looked great.

Survived two soft goals and a fluke. Great to see them battle back and come from behind to win. Worst period I have seen Ben play but he bounced back and played a solid game after the first period.

Great report from someone at the game, Lunatic! Really good detail. Please continue.

This is gonna be a quick game to flip back off. 3-0 Toothpaste with Gorsuch replacing Blacker 13 minutes in.

RE: Colgate gamethreads
Sounds like a teachable moment for AM... team got ahead of themselves... maybe stayed up to late enjoying last nights win... sad but positive point of reflection.

RE: Colgate gamethreads
This is why they play two games against a team in one weekend, unlike the babies out east.
