He does something that many (most?) on this board do not do - he actually shows up at games - both men's and women's.

I like Old Owl. He has a different perspective from many, and that is good. If we all thought alike, all but one of us would be superfluous. And he seems to care a great deal for Rice athletics, which is a very good thing.

So do Bob Reinhold, Houston Owl and Tiki Owl.

That comment in no way invalidates WRC's comment.

I guess I need to meet Old Owl in person and see who he is. But I still stand by my statement - to make a blanket statement like that after 2 games is crazy talk.

I felt very much the same about Bailiff after two games.

After publicly lamenting multiple times how every topic comes back to Bailiff..... we somehow bring up Bailiff in a thread about MBB, Pera. 03-phew

Knodel still attends Rice sporting events and he was our last coach to win a SWC championship. The last Rice coach with an overall winning record was Don Suman 1949-1959. I will try to come up to see some of the games.
.....

Don Knodel for Coach Emeritus, a proven commodity who led the 1970 Owls to the Midwest Regional (the last Rice team to make the Tourney.) Imagine the headlines, Knodel (two years from now) helps takes a Rice team back to the dance after a 50 year drought.

I thought the response was to lamenting the choice of coach after two games.
