No Wonder Our Basketball Program Was In Disarray Under Pastner
the latest story is beyond strange.
add that to having a mental patient on the bench, the mindfulness kook hanging around, a strength trainer that wears a mask and doesn't want his picture taken, and it makes it easier to understand just how screwed up things were out there

Yeah, when you combine that circus with the no-cussing, no-drinking cherub of a coach, it was quite odd.

And then several of them were adopted. Prolly stayed confused over who to call “mom”.

Sadly the hallmark/bad part of fandom is often blind allegiance to whomever is getting a paycheck from the University regardless of the reality of what is happening.
And if you aren't 100% on board, you are a "bad fan" or "miserable."

He should’ve found a way to work Mongo into is coaching rotation... to appease the local wackos. No need to go outside of Shelby County to find this level of crazy.

Yep, amazing how hard the board would come down on the handful of posters who saw past the illusion and called out the clownshow.

Murphy, Damon and Cyp were prolly the only ones who had any sense. The rest of the cast of characters in the Opie regime didn’t have a clue.

When Pastner was here, some of us were shaking our heads in private long before we posted our dislike. We had this idea that we should spout the party line so the Memphis program didn't look bad and the players wouldn't get upsetz, not to mention the potential recruits wouldn't take note of the disaray.
Some of us finally figured out that the players were upsetz because of the coaching, and nothing we could say about the Coaching was going to upset them more than having to deal with that guy.
Shaq's interview, when he was leaving, was pretty poignant...
There were also some parents of the players reading the Roar board. Late at night (even for Pacific Time) there was a Tiger BB player who posted about juice boxes and other stuff that sounded totally fabricated, but wasn't. You could tell he was hurtin.
It was a mess.

Shaq's interview pulled back the curtain on what happens when you (figuratively) put a kid in charge of other kids.
It was too much, too soon for a young man who had not even been a lead assistant much less a head coach.
Drama-o Rama.
Needed a quick fix, which is very possible in basketball. Didn't get it.

You would say I am a fan with blind allegiance. I just like to give coaches a chance to succeed. Then, if it's not working get rid of them.
Miserables are griping about the coach no matter what the results are. Miserables are the ones who are complaining about Tubby after complaining year after year about Pastner after complaining about Cal. Sure, the miserables were right about Pastner, but they were wrong about Cal. The jury should still be out on Tubby.

RE: No Wonder Our Basketball Program Was In Disarray Under Pastner
Some of us are in, no matter where anyone thinks we should be. We've seen enough of the direction this program is taking.
Our athletic program doesn't have time to dally. BB Revenue is hurting and Football needs to be funded more than BB.
If we have to keep this lack luster person, so be it. Football is now the most important sport. Count me as a convert.
The BB Tourney is the most fun there is in sports, imo, but the odds are stacked that we can't crack that this year.
