Have said we will better better than last season, 20 wins. We might lose 1-2 early we shouldn't but with so many new players it can happen. But as the 2nd half of conference play comes around, we will be pretty competitive.

RE: **Official Tigers BB 2017-18 prediction thread**
If you look at the SI college basketball pre-season rankings as a guide Memphis is ranked 156. Memphis is probably better than that but there are too many unknowns. I have listed the SI ranking beside every team.

Sure losses: (1-9)
Bama (21), Louisville (9), @Cincinnati (6), @UCF (28), Cincinnati (6), Wichita State (4), UCF (28), @SMU (63), @UConn (57), @Temple (62)

Probable losses: (1-2)
Houston (56), UConn (57), @Tulsa (105)

Toss ups: (3-2)
NKU (111), Mercer (108), Albany (97), LSU (91), Tulsa (105)

Probable wins: (5-1)
@UAB (165), Samford (118), Tulane (186), @Tulane (186), @ECU (184), ECU (184)

Sure wins: (7-0)
UALR (325), New Orleans (273), Bryant (303), Siena (254), Loyola MD (233), @USF (234), USF (234)

So total record is 17-14.

All you needed to do was go to the exhibition game. Lots to like. Trust me, if the new players looked pathetic or weak, I would say so. But that wasn’t the case. Even GC wrote an article on how he was impressed with the players. I think we have around 12 tough/hard games. I have us winning half of those. I see you have us losing all of the tough games plus a few more. I just can’t see that based on what I saw. But you and everyone here are free to have your thoughts. I wouldn’t even predict a record if I hadn’t seen the exhibition game. Next year will be easy to predict because we will have had a full season of seeing the new guys.

19-12. Lose a couple early that we shouldn't (UAB, Mercer). Win a few late as underdogs (Houston, UConn, UCF).

Had the same dilemma, 5 games that could go either way - given the unknowns about this team. I have us winning the Mercer game to get to 20.

I’ve been watching basketball for over 40 years. You can tell if a kid can play even when the competition is weak. If a kid can dribble he can dribble. Same for passing, shooting, and rebounding. The skill set shows up. And hey, I’m not arguing with you, if you think they are garbage that’s ok. Everyone is free to have their opinions. 04-cheers

Will fans be encouraged if we are very competitive and lose by five or less on Friday? Like what if it’s a tie game with a minute to play and they make two clutch shots while we miss two. Do we suck because we lost the game? Or are we a good team that came up short?

Opinions will vary. Easier to predict the opinions than the game result though. I see us losing to Bama. Would be pleasantly surprised if we don't.

Call it a moral victory or good loss or whatever if we lose a close one, but no one will remember it as such if we lose the next 4 as well. If on the other hand, we follow up with 10 straight wins, no one will even think about the game 1 loss. Best just win it. If not, better follow up strong.

Just my option but moral victories end after a coach's first year on the job

Pastner's first game was a moral victory. By year two it took a miracle run in the CUSA tournament to get in

Maybe we gotta define moral . If we don’t get blown out by Louisville and Wichita, that’s a moral victory imo.

I'll be more interested when they can keep players longer than a few months to two years. If they were leaving to go pro, that's one thing, but they are not. I have no idea who is on our team anymore.

I'll guess 21-10.
