Your post presupposes that you would have access to 1000 tickets.

I'd like to know how many we make available to away teams.

There is always the secondary market. Even with the SDSU game sold out there still was plenty of green in the stands

NDSU fans wouldn't have a problem getting tickets. I don't care what the reported number was for the playoffs last year, the butts in seats metric made it clear that we had plenty of tickets available to the general public, especially if it lands on a Friday night. That's not a knock on our fans, we still outdrew just about everyone in the playoffs, just saying NDSU fans could get tickets.

The question is how many folks purchased tickets and didn't show due to weather or work/commute on a Friday night?

Maybe the time of year and cold weather with potential Fri night games will be a factor again, but I would think a whole lot of people would show up for NDSU. It's rare we get that caliber of team visiting BFS. Last time I can recall was App State.

That App State game was epic but I'm not certain that would have sold 26k tickets in December either, and definitely not on a Friday. I think our first playoff game this year (assuming it's a Saturday and not Thanksgiving weekend) will creep up towards a sellout just because of the playoff run last year, but it will go down each week as students leave campus and the holidays draw near. Either way, I love this time of year. Let's squish the ticks!

Sure it’s Harrisonburg and not Dallas, it’ll be fewer and more expensive plane flights and fewer hotel options, a further drive than Frisco, but still....

Could definitely be more but not sure how many alumni are in that area and honestly seem like some use Frisco as a mini vacation as well.

Yeah the Frisco trip has bigger stakes and admittedly a bit more tourist appeal than Harrisonburg would have. That would make a few a bit more hesitant. It’s probably a costlier trip for most I would imagine.

Yep. Unfortunately we still aren't big enough population wise to get the cheap flights out of Fargo.

Charter some jumbo jets, get them all loaded up with Bison and see if they can land at Shenandoah Valley International airport.

I’m sure most would make the 3.5 hr drive to MSP (DL Hub), and fly to IAD, DCA, or BWI, then do the drive to Harrisonburg. Are obviously a ton of things to see/do if had an extra day or 2 (sights in DC, Shenandoah Nat Park/Skyline Drive, caverns, wineries, etc)..

That's quite the trek though, instead of what is probably direct flights from Fargo to Dallas. That extra inconvenience would dissuade some.

That is definitely an issue I would think. We have multiple direct flights to DFW daily.

I would guess that flights to Dallas (having two airports) and flights to Washington (with three) would be very similar in costs. Also, there are many folk who come to the Valley to visit, I wouldn't knock what we have to offer, though the big difference will be shows, concerts, and such that most all large cities have to offer. Though I doubt many football travelers are going to want to take in the things relevant to visiting a big city anyway. My guess is more about the scenery and taking in some local culture and that goes for large cities as well as small towns. Frankly, if I were someone who had never been to the area, I would not choose a hotel, but rather my lodging choice would be up at Massanutten, but maybe that is just me.
