NCAA is a corrupt system that makes billions off the back of mostly unpaid labor. Hell yes I want a coach that funnels as much money as possible to the players.
Some people have a really funny idea of what "unpaid" means.
High level players at major college basketball programs do not make a fair market value nor is the free market allowed to set what they are worth. So yes, players that are good enough to cheat for are mostly unpaid in comparison to their value to the university.
It's called amateur sports for a reason. Don't like it, go play somewhere else.
But its not amateur sports. Amateur sports outside the NCAA dont prevent players from benefiting from their likeness.
An olympic swimmer can be in TV commercials or sell Subway sandwiches. Why shouldnt Lamar Jackson be allowed to do the same thing?
Why shouldnt any Wichita State player be allowed to be sell autographs at a car dealership on a Sunday morning?
The NCAA is a cartel that at is core is only for the few who have power at the expense of free market principles.

What is wrong with that? There is absolutely nothing other than the NCAA rules. It's not illegal, its not unethical. Its an adult using his skills/fame to make a living just like any of us do in life.
We wouldnt have a problem with Michael Phelps doing it. We wouldnt have an issue with any Olympian doing it....because they do it all the time and we dont even notice.
Just because the NCAA has rules against doesnt make it wrong and doesnt mean they should have rules against it.

Something is worth what someone will pay for it. So if a booster is willing to pay it, that is its market value. It's simple supply and demand economics. This isnt rocket science.

College sports aren't in the 'fair market' though. If they were then only the top 15 or so schools would win every single year. If the kids want to get their "market value" they can go play overseas and see how much they get paid there. Then they can come back to the NCAA.

Only the top 15 or so schools win every year anyway.
The last 20 National Titles were won by 10 schools. 5 schools won 15 of those titles(UNC, Duke, UCONN, Kentucky, and Florida).
Nothing would change. The same schools that win now will win in this world. Only difference is that those players would be properly compensated for the value they bring.

They wouldn’t be paying for the autograph they’d be paying for the kid. You’re arguing for paying players, you’re not arguing to allow players to sell autographs.

It would absolutely kill the NCAA tournament though, because any time a good player had a good season for a lower market team he could transfer to the school that would pay him most. They kind of already do that... but it needs to be cracked down on, not opened up to anarchy.

sorry but Nebraska and Alabama are not marquee OOC games....not in hoops.
Mizzou used to be a good win...used to be.

Let's not derail this thread, the OP was a good topic to start.
I think we should list marquee games...some people are just listing P5 schools. Alabama, Nebraska, Kstate etc are NOT marquee basketball games.
