Prediction: It will wreck one of the two specials seasons going on in the AAC this year, either UCF's or Memphis's.

My hunch is they'll have Frost signed up by Thanksgiving, and UCF will grit their teeth and endure one of the late season swoons that front-running AAC teams have come to expect when their coaches become hot properties.

Florida extended McElwain's contract by one year in June, with his deal running through 2023. The full value of McElwain's deal is $26,917,800.

I would say they go after Kelly, more proven and readily available for recruiting.

I hope not. No fanbase should have to endure that garbage. Fuente completely mishandled his transition to Virginia Tech and destroyed our last 1/3 of the season.

I don't think Frost has any interest in Florida, even if they drive the Brink's trucks to his driveway. He will be coaching at Nebraska next season.

I’m going to say after their struggles they go after an offensive minded coach.

They must have a way to avoid paying that

Mullen's name has been linked to Florida's for a long time - wasn't he discussed before McElwain was hired? In a refreshing burst of honesty on the SEC Network last night, one of the shills said that other than Saban, every other SEC coach is simply on a year to year contract & he was right. McElwain took Florida to 2 straight division titles and had a great recruiting class lined up and they still shot him dead before November. Coaches notice things like that

It doesn't matter who they hire. As long as Saban is Bama's coach, everyone is playing for #2. Which McElwain did twice in a row yet is still being canned. It's just totally unrealistic expectations.

Meyer had to win with a legion of scumbags and bolted once his Tebow Lottery Ticket was graduating.

UF won the East the past two years and lost a bunch of starters. One down year and they fire the coach. Anyone who takes that job is either dumb or doing it for the buyout.

Yeah we can add another coach that Saban has cost his job. Idk how you fire a coach that’s the first to win two division titles back to back in first years in sec history. Not the kind of message you send to new hires, if you don’t meet our unrealistic expectations you’re fired and set your career back.

RE: Florida job opens
McElwain is a guy who beat a bunch of nobodies at Colo St.

He won 22 games there, but 17 were against teams that won 4 games or less (or were FCS).

He beat a 5-7 team. He beat a 6-6 team in a bowl game. He beat a couple of 7-6 teams.

He had one "great" win over a 10-4 Utah State team. The best thing on his resume going to Florida was his OC stint at Bama.

It would make sense. McElwain's buyout is going to be hyuuuge, so most schools would have to opt for the younger coach at a discount. Florida can afford it if their boosters decide its worth the cost, it may come down to whether there is a booster willing to cut the check.
