i think many schools will wait at least one more year for him. His buyout is over 9 mil and they would have to out bid ISU. Not saying he won't get any calls or anything. It just might be a hard sell for one good season.

I hope he stays at ISU for a long run. COGS

Frost won't be cheap either. The buyout is over $4 million and he already makes $2 million in a no tax state. They were planning on getting him up to $3.5 million. Florida can afford it, but still not peanuts.

You kidding? Half the SEC is about to lose their job.

Florida just fired McElwain.
Butch Jones is the walking dead and WILL be fired.
Ole Miss already has an interim HC and he ain't winning friends blowing leads.
Odom, Sumlin, and Bielema (sp) are all on the hotseats.
I can even see Stoops at Kentucky being poached in-conference, and don't even get me started about places like Texas Tech, Kansas, and others.

Once this season is over I fully expect to see half the coaches in this conference move up. Our programs exist primarily as proving grounds for head coaches for P5 programs right now, and we are about to lose all of our top performers.

Allegedly lying about recent death threats received toward him...

Good luck on FL proving that...

You would be unhappy with a guy who recruits great talent to Starkville, MS and coaches them well?? A proven commodity that turned a doormat into a contender? This is proof that there is absolutely no way to please Fl. fans. If I was Mullen I would turn it down because of this right here.

Richt is at his dream job in Miami. His alma mater. Don't think he would listen.
Plus he doesn't have to face Alabama every year anymore...unless he goes to the playoffs that is.

Don't think he'd listen either except to leverage listening to a better Miami contract. But his "dream" job was UGA & if UGA had handled his removal better as a "retirement", he likely would have actually retired. But I don't think he liked being pushed out after averaging 10 wins per yr over his career at UGA, so he took the Miami job with some motivation he had lacked the last couple of years at UGA. But don't think he'll take another job, just get more $$ at Miami.

UF is looking at something between $8M - $26M to McElwain. Then Mullen makes $4.5M public & has another contract with boosters rumored to near equal his public contract which is renewed to 4 yrs guaranteed each year. Do you really think UF wants to take that on? Maybe, but if so, they will pay dearly on top of a lot of $$$ owed McElwain. One thing going for UF is that their AD was at MSU prior & has a great relationship with Mullen - but will have to pay MSU to get him out of contract plus beat his MSU pay - public & private. And BTW, at those numbers, it gives Mullen 3-4 yrs max before he is fired if he doesn't compete with AL & UGA.

$26 million? Where are you getting those numbers? If UF was on the hook for the full buyout, it is just under $13 million.

Reports are saying that it will probably be much lower. This article says $4 million.

I don't see Richt leaving his alma mater in Miami. Maybe Strong but he needs to win for a few seasons to get his stock back up after the Texas debacle.

I'm not saying he'd go, just that he would make sense for them to go after.

if you guys were worth a shat, they would potentially look at your coach, but that isn't something you'll have to worry about...probably ever

Cool story! Don't worry, no one is poaching your coach either.

I'm aware of it from a booster involved in the contract negotiations but don't know the value or the details but it is quite substantial - and it's private & doesn't have to be disclosed to the public under any disclosure rules/laws. but here's a hint that it exists...https://projects.newsday.com/college-football-coaches-salaries-contracts/dan-mullen/.

He can go hire Kliff Kingsbury or Todd Graham as an OC after they are fired this year.

Don't forget about Bud Foster. Put a serviceable offense with Bud Foster's defense in the SEC east and it gets you to the SEC championship game most years.

You can't google Scott Frost without getting coaching candidate articles.

He's like the most popular name for any job this year.

Yup... Most articles I have read say Florida needs an offensive minded coach.
