This is not to degrade UAB, La Tech or anyone...they just ain't our rivals.

Do majority Southern Miss fans feel this way? I know a lot of fellow UAB fans that consider Southern Miss to be a big rival. Memphis is still probably at the top of the list for us though.

Me personally I consider UAB and La Tech as current rivals......probably UAB a little more because of the history from 2000-14. TO ME.....Memphis, Tulane, ECU are now former/past rivals.

That wasn't the only head-scratcher you lost that year. Your QB still as turf marks on his back from our game and your ST guys still have nightmares about our punter.

It is funny you define rivals as teams you have a decidedly victorious record over.

Who knows, lol. Eaglebeaver has been on a passive aggressive bender since the win against Tech last Saturday.

Uh...we played Memphis EVERY year for 50 years (axe-ually twice one year!), ECU and Tulane for over 30 years, so their records, as in any rivalry, never was the point.

I'd say some of youse guys have an inferiority complex (04-cheers), because saying You-aye-Bay and Tech aren't our rivals doesn't mean you are chopped liver or unworthy---it just means "you ain't our rivals".

....and the win last Satdee would raise anyone's spirits, whether it was against The Sisters o' the Poor, La Tech or Notre Damn...03-woohoo
I know this is a little of topic but Do you attend USM games like Troy in 2016 or Illinois back in baby bull days? What is you level of fan support? The reason for asking is you sound like some of the USM fans that I know who are never going to sit in the pouring rain or if its to hot to watch the Eagles or if they are playing Kentucky or Illinois but boy do we sure miss the good ole days when we played Memphis or Tulane. UAB is a rival game for any USM fan that is worth their salt. La Tech is a rival game as well. USM is no better than any of our current conference mates. We are where we deserve to be. Just like coach Hop says "you get what you deserve".

Y'all are lucky you don't play us now. 05-mafia

Memphis has H/H with LaM, North Texas, Ga State, Southern Alabama, etc., but no USM. Go figure. It would be a great draw in Memphis and probably Hattiesburg too.

And some great basketball games back in the day.

Edit--I forgot you play TN. Hope you rip them a new one.

No...at least, not this one. And for the record. I'm glad you guys are back and with some fire in your bellies to boot. Your continued improvement will help build this game into a rivalry whether some USM fans will admit to it, or not.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm hoping more people see USM-UAB as a huge rivalry in the next 5-10 years 04-cheers

I’ll tell you one thing, no need to question my old friend Eaglebeaver’s loyalty to USM. He was a USM fan when most on here were crapping yellow in their diapers.

Most Southern Miss fans still think it's 1997.

UAB are our peers. Life gets easier when you realize that.

Ha ha ha ha ha har de har har WAIT! It ain't THAT funny, since the teams I listed are teams we played every year for over 3 decades....it's not OUR fault we dominated them!03-lmfao

Again...we played La Tech a lot in the 60's and 70's and they weren't a RIVAL....we play them regularly again, and usually it's a BIG game, but they still aren't a RIVAL in my mind.

IF some folks think they ARE---that's OK too, GOOD for them and pass the Shiner Bock! 04-cheers

MOST? MOST?03-lmfao I didn't realize you were such a wise seer while the rest of us po' little Mississippi Southern fans can't see the forest for the trees!03-lmfao

Now, at my age I may sometimes THINK it's 1997, but it gots nothing to do with football! 04-cheers

and boy I do REALIZE who our peers are now...and I realize that's why we draw 20,000 a game because no one gives a shat about the teams we play now....and being a peer does not make one a rival.

Let me ask you a question about your opinion that La Tech is a rival game if you dont mind. Do you think the rivalry originated during the period we playing them prior to about 25yrs ago, a lot of usm fans and most students werent even born then, or did it devlop over the past 5yr when we started playing them again?

Never been to a game in my life...03-lmfao

Axe-ually my friend, I've sat in Hurricane's, downpours, 120 degree Death Valley-like weather and everything in between.

My Dad had season tickets when no one had them beginning in the 50's....and took me to my first game when I was five...and then I preceded to make EVERY HOME GAME FOR THE NEXT FORTY SEVEN (47) YEARS (Needless to say that included season tickets and Eagle Club)..

So way to go "Nostradamus"...and I guarantee I've got plenty of salt, capiche?
