Is this CUSA 3.0's best year?
If things work out, we could have 10 bowl eligible teams, at least one top 25 team...

Currently the top offense, FAU is averaging 55 PTS per game.

Currently the top defense, Marshall, is only giving up 5 PTS per game.

The only problem was our OOC record against power teams. But when has that ever really been strong?

So my question, is this CUSA 3.0's best collection of teams?

No no no...

what you are seeing is a bunch of schools as in ALL. That would have finished way behind the winner of the last 3 CUSA champs and the team that made the championship game.

Hell you have a Western team that is 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference and to be honest should have been 4-0 . This Western team would be down 30+ point by halftime to the last 2 Western teams

Im thinking that WKU's first year in was the best year , ranked Marshall team and some solid teams to go around.

Marshall
MT
WKU
LaTech
UAB
These were solid from my best memory

I don't know if I totally agree with that.

This year's Marshall team is really coming into form. And most of our players return for 2018. So I think if all falls into place, with the team as constructed, we could make a run at the access bowl next year.

This year's Marshall team is pretty dang balanced.

Since looking over the FAU roster, they could as well in 2018.

I think we're building something real nice here.

I think the point I'm seeing is we still have a top team, but the balance this year is stronger than I've ever seen it.

Again, look over everyone's schedules. We could have up to 10 bowl teams, and still have a ranked Marshall team when it's all said and done.

Yeah, that was the 2014 year when we had 8 bowl eligible teams.

We are on track to possibly get ten this year AND if Marshall can make noise, still get another top 25 team.

But this years Marshall team would get drilled by Kato's sr season. CUSA has a lot of avg teams this season with a few starting to imerge. I can see LaTech/Marshall/FAU/WKU all being very dangerous teams next year and UAB/ODU/North Texas/ UTSA and USM being very solid also. The ones that need to step it up are Charlotte / FIU / UTEP/Rice

I understand being over the moon as a Marshall fan especially after last year. But pump the brakes a little bit....

UNCC...0 wins (might get 1 tonight)
Middle..missing all key offensive players
ODU...2 wins came over a FCS and a 0-6 umass team
Miami (OH) 1 FBS win
Kent State 1 FBS win came over Miami (OH)
Cincinnati 1 FBS win came over Miami (OH)

And not a damn one worth a crap on offense. Even with that the Marshall defense has been impressive. But you need to pump the brake on "a top team" or "ranked team"

Possibly, and the good WKU teams. But the balance this year for the good teams is better than I can remember.

Why do I need to pump the brakes? I've been very impressed with the conference as a whole this year, sans the bottom dwellers.

This might actually be the weakest year of CUSA 3.0. It's more balanced because there are no really good teams, which makes it more interesting, but not better.

Parity does not equal strength.

At the moment, our league does not have one single team rated in the top half of FBS football. Not a one.

Most parity by far but past seasons have had better individual teams. Top to bottom? Maybe. If you go 6 or 7 down in the rankings I think those might be better teams than have occupied those spots in the past.

RE: Is this CUSA 3.0's best year?
Yep, by far the worse year for CUSA...Can even see our American P7 dominance coming to an end in this seasons bowl games...Going to be hard to pick some of these CUSA teams bowl season maybe minus 1 or 2...WKU is 5-2 but I will be first to admit our schedule has to be on the easiest if not easiest in the nation so far....It gets tougher starting next week for sure which might be a culture shock to some of our players starting this Saturday....Our coaches really going to have to ramp it up, we are really a 2-4 team at this point based on metrics and eyeball test....

I am curious to know who is going to be ranked this season? We dont have a team anywhere close to being ranked....Besides last season WKU getting robbed out of ranking at 26th, previous 2 seasons we had Marshall and WKU both ranked...

RE: Is this CUSA 3.0's best year?
The main reason right now that so many teams are on track to go bowling is that a lot of teams won at least 2 OOC games. That usually doesn’t happen. Many schools will play 3 P5 teams to pay the bills and go 0-3. This year it seems like almost everyone had a FCS and won it, and then beat a SunBelt or MAC team to get two wins.

I’m not saying that shows strength but it is a step forward. Hopefully Marshall, WKU, and two from the West step up and keep winning to elevate the top of the league.
