I think the middle looks stronger because the bottom is very weak.

I don't know about C-USA's year but FAU is having its best season since joining the conference in 2013.

It’s not the best....but it is the craziest! I truly can’t see who will even be in the championship game right now. Tech won’t, but it’s anyones game.

I voted NO. If it’s really still too early to say this year is anything but what it is right at this moment.

Ironically this is exactly when Top 25s should come out. Middle of October.

I also voted no. The middle is certainly stronger, but the top isn't as solid. All of that results in a balanced league which is interesting, internally, but not gaining any respect outside of our league. Plus we simply have to do a better job OOC.

I don't even know who the top is. To me, two thirds of the league is the "middle".

There is no polished offense, but FAU is stepping up. Pulling the middle and bottom up is important. Just need some coaching continuity somewhere to continue to improve. 2018 should be amply anticipated.

What I'm seeing is more quality teams before the drop off like in past years. In the past few seasons you've had that one dominate team that if they could get by one of two teams pretty much had a open road to run the table on their side of the conference to the championship game. Not this year, you finally have some real quality stretches where you have to be on your A game. Lose one or two an your out of it. Marshall's next 5 games are as tough a stretch of must win conference games as I can remember in a long time.

what you are seeing is a bunch of schools as in ALL. That would have finished way behind the winner of the last 3 CUSA champs and the team that made the championship game.

I don't know if I totally agree with that.

This year's Marshall team is really coming into form. And most of our players return for 2018. So I think if all falls into place, with the team as constructed, we could make a run at the access bowl next year.

This year's Marshall team is pretty dang balanced.

Since looking over the FAU roster, they could as well in 2018.

I think we're building something real nice here.
But this years Marshall team would get drilled by Kato's sr season. CUSA has a lot of avg teams this season with a few starting to imerge. I can see LaTech/Marshall/FAU/WKU all being very dangerous teams next year and UAB/ODU/North Texas/ UTSA and USM being very solid also. The ones that need to step it up are Charlotte / FIU / UTEP/Rice

Possibly, and the good WKU teams. But the balance this year for the good teams is better than I can remember.

No possibly to it. This Herd team is comparable to 2015 in my ooinion. Better on defense than that team but worse offensively. Both the 2013 and 2014 teams would beat this one by at least 2 scores.

With that said, the league as a whole isn't as good either so we still have a good shot at being CUSA champions. But, don't mistake parity for quality. This league has regressed not progressed.

I am curious to know who is going to be ranked this season? We dont have a team anywhere close to being ranked....Besides last season WKU getting robbed out of ranking at 26th, previous 2 seasons we had Marshall and WKU both ranked...

Marshall is receiving votes, and is sitting at 34th, so id qualify that as "close" to.being ranked. Not that we deserve it. Hard to deserve anything with a cusa schedule, and 1 decent OOC game. Although that was a 10 pt game late in the 4th and s couple things gone our way, could have won it.

The only CUSA team I have been impressed with after watching has been Marshall.

I think USM, WKU, Tech, UTSA, FAU are equally mediocre

How many bowl eligible teams have we had in years past for CUSA 3.0? Absolutely this year is CUSA 3.0's best year as a collective whole through week 8. Not saying the top teams would beat other year's top teams, and I don't think that's the purpose of this poll/thread. Anyways, still a lot of ball left to be played.

I will say except for Rice, UTEP and Charlotte, CUSA 3.0 is the most equal top to bottom, but there aren't any world beaters in this crop. WKU 2014 and 2015 were much better than any of these teams.

Which was my point, there might not be what Alabama has been to the SEC the past few years in CUSA this year, but that's okay. It has made this season quite entertaining to follow. This truly could go down to the last week of the regular season before we know who's in the Championship game. I just hope we don't have to use the CUSA "Ouija Board tie break system to decide who's in.

I'm looking at it like an apple orchard. There are a lot more apples this year on the trees than there ever were before. It's a banner crop. But when you bite into each apple they just don't taste as good as the past few years. People will still buy them, but you know in your heart something still isn't quite right.

Lots of parity, but not a lot of good football.
