Pretty good overview.

The article does act like losing electricity in cities wouldn't kill anyone. Technically true for the most part, but the looters and rampagers would.

Knock out all electricity, and by extension city water, food deliveries and medical supplies and services with no Calvary on the way in a city of millions there would be tens of thousands dead within 10 days. It would be carnage writ large.

While the EMP itself will not the aftereffects would be deadly, especially in the urban centers. I highly doubt the 90% number but the death rate will certainly be higher than a percentage of 1% you cite. The average American s incapable of sustaining themselves for more than a day or so in a normal disaster situation thus they are really screwed in a scenario where it's going to take longer than 24-48 hours for relief crews to assist them.

Red State Americans over age 45 (outside of the urban dwellers) would for the most part be fine for a while if the grid went down.

While I wouldn't like it, I can camp, use a pit toilet, build a fire, make drinkable water, fire a gun, etc. We grew up fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, etc and were scouts. We remember life before cell phones and the internet...

millennials and people who have lived their lives in urban cores would be up a creek. It would not be pretty.

When Hurricane Ike came through and knocked out power for 5 days...after day 2 we had people banging on the doors and windows of Burger Kings, Wendys, etc (weren't open due to no power) begging them to open because they wanted food.

And we generally would know how to work together.

you got that? I got this. You can fix this? I can fix that.

not sure what a lot of the urban under 30's know about much of anything...

Not really.

Go look around. It's most certainly possible. Probable? Maybe not. Possible? Uhhh, yea.

I get the Tesla thingy......

however, we move first if 1.....

I'm not buying it....

you are right.....if 1, then it gets ugly quick.....

IMO, that means 0....

not even the dippos would allow that one....

there's no way I'm going to get sucked into media rhetoric.....never have, never will.....

I hear ya.

But what it comes across to me is basically a cheaper version of actually having a ballistic nuke that they can aim.

Almost like lobbing up a hot air balloon (or ECU football) and seeing where it falls, or blows up.

Hell, even the dictators in Cooba managed to f$%& with our people over there, predictably, and we had NO idea WTF was going on.

90 miles off our coast. So yea. Confidence level, no idea what Vegas was about, meter hovering around 11.7%.

Just sayin'. 07-coffee3

kudos and 04-cheers pal....

tech is going to **** us up the arse at some point......it's just a matter of time.....

I'm just not buying this one.....

however, this is another reason why you need guns today (among others)......

Guns without battery operated optics at that.
