Three women, including Actress Asia Argento and Lucia Evans, have come forward and claimed the producer forced himself on them sexually
The DOJ's order is likely to be seen in a political light given Weinstein's friendship with President Trump's defeated rival Hillary Clinton
Weinstein donated heavily to Clinton and although she said she was shocked and dismayed by his actions, she hasn't returned any of his contributions
The 65-year-old is said to be planning to depart for Europe in order to receive professional treatment and go to sex therapy in wake of the scandal
His hasty international departure sparks fears of a Roman Polanski-style situation, where he dodges prosecution in the U.S
Polanski has managed to avoid US officials since he plead guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old in 1978

I don't like Weinstein... but why is the fbi involved in this...can't local law enforcement handle this...

Possible Mann Act violations. Since the allegations involve multiple jurisdictions FBI involvement can ease some investigative procedural matters.

It's also possible that NYPD and NY state requested that the FBI get involved for the aforementioned jurisdictional problems and the fact that Weinstein could flee the country and FBI involvement would make investigation easier and smooth the path should they require extradition.

He had a guy on payroll who's specific duty was to set him up with women. If that payroll expense hit the books in the US, that would also do it.

There's plenty already known that would activate a federal investigation. States could also still investigate some items on their own, but for what currently know, the question shouldnt be why is the FBI involved. The question should be why hasnt the fbi been involved already.

If they applied those rules across the board virtually every Democrat would have twitter suspended.

Leftist Twitter does not to sacrifice too many sacred cows, Ben Affleck is too important.
Who? Isn't he that failed actor?

Rakes Damon, Clooney and Streep over the coals: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/45...ds-silence
Streep called Weinstein "God," giving him credit for her 3rd Oscar. Clooney and Damon give carefully scripted answers. They point out that Pitt threatened to beat the tar out of Weinstein if he messed with Platrow again (his girlfriend at the time). Of course Clooney, Damon and Pitt did several movies together and are friends.

There were public jokes about him: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-11/re...ed/9039152
"Five years ago there was a line in an episode of 30 Rock that alluded to Harvey Weinstein having a reputation for asking actresses for sexual favours.
It was a quick jab, buried in a wider plot line about show business, but is now being used as an example of how Weinstein's alleged behaviour has been an "open secret" in Hollywood for years.
"I'm not afraid of anyone in show business," says actress Jenna Maroney, played by Jane Krakowski.
"I turned down intercourse with Harvey Weinstein on no less than three occasions … out of five...." "

"And it's not the only reference to Weinstein's alleged behaviour that's been laughed off in the past.
Take this joke made by comedian Seth McFarlane after announcing the 2012 Oscar nominees for best supporting actress:
"Congratulations. You five ladies no longer have to pretend you're attracted to Harvey Weinstein," he said."

Can you just call Hollywood Happy Valley, California?
