RE: UNT Deserves Some Respect
Disrespect any team in this league, this year, and do so at your own peril. Everyone's strengths and weaknesses fit together like puzzle pieces and any game is anyone's to win, more so than most years it seems.

I disagree. I think there are clearly some programs that are playing at a higher level. I think we just have more of them this season then we have had in the other four years of this line-up. There are 7 C-USA teams with winning records right now. I can't think of another year when half of the conference has winning records half way through the season.
Despite the impressive number of winning programs, we still have a few teams that are not very dangerous.

There aren't many easy wins in conference.

That I agree with.
You both just said what I said. I'm sure WKU thought UTEP would be an easy win. If your team doesn't respect every team they play this year they could get bit in the ass. Probable wins in the east FIU and Charlotte, Probable wins in the west are UTEP and Rice. That leaves ten teams that can torch any other team and the aforementioned 4 teams aren't gimmes. I even said this year more than most.

To the North Texas fans that think we won something already:
UNT escaped UAB, who is still very much in the race for the west.
UNT beat USM, and they are still very much in the race.
UTSA: Obviously, still in the race.
Louisiana Tech: In the race.
UNT has beaten 2 teams, but won nothing, yet.
Every team deserves as much respect as UNT at this point...

I know some UNT fans are excited, maybe a lil to excited as of now. But there is always the lil saying "Act like you've been there before".

UNT Deserves Some Respect
CUSA is better overall as a conference this year than last (last year was atrocious), but the reality is that there are no really good dominating teams in CUSA this year. Not even a single team in the top 60 right now, but a bunch hovering around 60 to 80. Going to be interesting to see who separates themselves from the pack

I'll be surprised if both divisions don't end up decided by a tie-breaker.....

Best comment on here. What we saw last week goes to show that this is very much an open race. The perceived "great" teams showed weakness and some of the perceived "mediocre" teams are showing progression.

The only thing worse than a conference with a weak bottom....
One without a strong top.
The middle did not move closer to the top. The top moved back to the middle and there is still a clear weak bottom. At least early on. That may change over the next 4 or 5 games but right now that's my perception.

I agree, the bottom is marginally better but the top is not near as good, WKU and Tech. This is evident by OCC play FAU was blown out by Navy and UNT by SMU

That's the sole reason I have Marshall at the top, for now. No bad loss. No great win, either, but winning what we should and two of those games we were underdogs, mistakenly, but still dogs. King of the hill doesn't have to be the best or biggest kid, just the one at the top of the hill till someone knocks him off.

Chuck Heater has Marshall's defense playing at a high right now. Marshall is allowing 17.4 points per game, they have a shutout and have allowed 3 points in two of their four games. We have 3 players ranked in the top 10 in different defensive stats, Chris Jackson in INTs and INT return yards, Ryan Bee in Pass break ups and Brandon Drayton in Passes defended.
I don't know if it was the wet ball, the humidity or what but I seen way to many over thrown balls from Litton Saturday. If it was just him over throwing, if he gets that corrected then we can and will be dangerous.
Again what was one of our weakest units last year, may just be our strongest this year in our secondary. All of our red shirt freshman and true freshman have grown up and the addition of red shirt freshman Brandon Drayton and Jaquan Yulee have been great. That with the move of Ryan Bee from DB to DL has improved the defense 10 fold.

When this post was made UNT was just 3-2. Since this post was made they barely pulled a 29-26 win out of their rear against UTSA, that was a lucky drive at the end and each team probably has a 2% chance of doing that. And then you have a 38 point loss to FAU.
As MUther said respect isn't just given or taken, its something earned over time. And its not something that just comes with a change or a win or two.
UNT is now 4-3, so is UAB, FAU, Wyoming, Houston, Texas Tech, Wake Forest. Should Thank You notes and cookies be sent to all of them too.
