I saw the play and read the article, what is the likely medical diagnosis?

Something like a broken tibia?

Not sure on the tibia...doubt he'd have been on the sidelines with that...for likely the fibula as it is not weight bearing to the same extent as the tibia...he seemed to be in no pain while back on the sidelines. Unfortunate to say the least. Get well soon Cody!

Not sure. Might be fibula since he seemed to get pulled back/down ackwardly. It is not weight bearing like the tibia, so this can happen when extreme pressure is suddenly put upon it.

Makes sense. I forgot that there are two bones in the lower leg, and one is the primary weight carrying bone.

didn't look to be a displaced fracture. I guess now it depends on how bad the fracture is, where it is, and how quickly it mends. It is possible he could be back for a bowl game, though not likely he will risk further problems by coming back early. A late December bowl game would be perfect for him. Should have about 5 weeks to rehab and it would be completely healed by then. I also would envision him trying to play in some post season senior all-star games. After reading about him, I would bet he will be working out every day and also working with the other receivers to bring their game up for routes, etc. We picked up a new coach...

In my 25+ years of UT football, Cody is in my top 5 favorite players. The kid was a joy to watch. Tough as nails, wouldn't go down. Fast, sure handed, great team player. Lost too soon. As a fan we'll be deprived of seeing him help lead us to a championship. Tough break and I hope he still gets a shot at the NFL. Sort of a Jordy Nelson type player for Green Bay.

He was one of my favorites as well. He is everything you could want to represent the program, on and off the field.
