Oregon just eliminated the middle man, that's all! Straight $$ from Nike to the University, no reason to get a coach involved, lol.

However, most of their ascension in the national spotlight was due to Kelly - since he departed, they have been a very average team. Give them a couple of more seasons of mediocrity and they will be on par with UT. I still think UT and Nebraska are very similar programs at this point in their history - and each has a similar (not good) chance of winning their conference and going to the BCS playoff.
Oregon will always be above UTK.
??? The only period when Oregon has been a better program that UTK are the Kelley years. As much as I dislike the Butt chuggers, their program has a rich history which Oregon cannot come close too.
Overall, they have been better than UT since 2000, so you are wrong on that one. Go back more than 20 years, which nobody cares about and UT was better.
Of course you would cherry pick your stats. Again, take out the Kelly years & Oregon has two good years since 2000 & one of those was with Kelley players under Helfrich. Until Kelly lost the Rose bowl in 2009, Oregon hadn't even been there since 1957. Oregon has been 13-12 in its last two complete seasons while UTK went 18-8. I guess you'll argue the PAC has been on par with the SEC during that time too.
Cherry pick my stats? I chose the last 20 years. Are you insane?

This is possibly the most dumb argument you have made out of the hundreds before it. Chip Kelly's tenure was a continuation of Bellotti's tenure which continued to build on the momentum and continued 3 years after Kelly left.
Final Rankings
Bellotti
2000 - 7
2001 - 2
2005 - 13
2007 - 23
2008 - 10
Kelly
2009 - 11
2010 - 10
2011 - 4
2012 - 2
Helfich
2013 - 9
2014 - 2
2015 - 19
12 seasons out of 20 ranked with 3 different coaches...with all 3 having seasons in the top 10...the pure definition of a successful program.
Since 2000
Oregon
12 Ranked in top 25
8 Ranked in top 10
Tennessee
7 Ranked in top 25
1 Ranked in top 10
Seriously, if you like getting beaten up so much, feel free to continue this ridiculous argument.

Oregon played Penn State in the 1995 Rose Bowl.
Oregon played in the Fiesta Bowl in 2002 and crushed Colorado and was #2 in the country (and many people thought that Oregon should've played Miami in the NC game as opposed to Nebraska).
Oregon also played in FOUR CONSECUTIVE BCS bowl games from 2009-2012.
And, Oregon also played in the NC game in 2014.
So, to recap in THIS CENTURY:
Oregon has six BCS bowl appearances and UT has none.
I am going to venture to say that Oregon > UT as a program.
The guy is a comedy act.

Oregon is a more relevant program than UT, but their current coach is underachieving.

RE: Don't Shoot The Messenger.....
The BCS was created in 1998...when Tennessee was at the top of the college football world. The Vols won the first BCS national championship (1998 season) and played in a second BCS bowl game the next season (1999 season). They never returned to a BCS bowl game.
Meanwhile, Oregon played in five BCS bowl games (after the 2001, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 seasons) including the 2011 BCS National Championship game.
The BCS gave way to the College Football Playoff in 2014. Oregon made the 4-team playoff that first year and lost to Bama in the championship game.
So Since 1999 Tennessee has had zero BCS/Playoff appearances while Oregon has had six (01, 09, 10, 11, 12, 14) during that same time period. Mike Bellotti was the coach for the 2001 BCS game.
During that same time period Tennessee has zero conference championships while Oregon has won six conference championships.
Tennessee may rebound and Oregon may regress, but the two programs haven't been close since the turn of the century. It's been all Ducks.
