Always nice to beat Ferris is not a state. Great to see this team on the schedule last few years, its a great rivalry game.

The Broncos played well in all phases tonight, most notably on the great strength of our special teams. Goalie Ben Blacker looked terrific as well, and it's clear this squad has great chemistry. The boys were running plays that looked well rehearsed all game, and truly looked in late season form. This team is very skilled and well coached.

Blacker had an outstanding game. Not only were his speed and reflexes on display but his positioning was strong as well. I had a beautiful flashback to Hafner as Ben skated out to the top of the circle to challenge a speedy Ferris forward. Blacker won it easily, though other opinions might differ. He shut down dangerous scoring chances with precision and focus, and just really played great.

I'm happy to report that two players had their first career goals tonight, and our returning offensive production has improved noticeably. The new players who saw the ice tonight showed competence and merit. McKee's replacement, Austin Rueschhoff (who happens to also wear #22), showed great hands and hockey sense for a man of his size.

This is also a more disciplined team than in years past. And they hustle. They are incredibly balanced, and showed off both their strength and skill tonight. The scorers can hit. The goons have hands.

We'll soon find out how we compare to elite competition, but it looks like the team is set to finish higher than 6th in the league.

I hope these two good performances show that all the new faces have jelled much faster than anticipated. We won't know until we get into NCHC games of course, but that's the hope.

Must not have been so much in game two. Almost seemed like the WCHA team could skate with the NCHC team.
