Yea...it's one of life's ironies.
Big guys have spent most of their lives trying to move out of the way and not step on people's toeseys.

Little guys, on the other hand, are always in your face. lol

Doubt Vanover wants to run a fast break -- no doubt to can shoot the 3. Makes 44% of them.

I guess we'll see who wants to be a Tiger. It appears that Lomax has been given a fair chance.

So funny...well played. Awesome.

Not true for all point guards. All through middle school and high school I avoided the paint regularly. If I did go in the paint or near the low block, I wasn’t there long. I hated getting popped or fouled by big guys, they had little to no control over their bodies.

RE: Lomax to now make an official visit . . .
More pressure on Lomax is that Florida - who was the early favorite for Lomax, and part of his final 5 - just committed a PG. So he's down to final 4. Wichita was thought to be a soft commitment, but sure doesn't sound like it this week. So if the Wichita deal is cooling, then Lomax is down to us, Old Miss, and Missouri. Maybe some of this is sinking in.

Plus, Tyler sounds like he really wants us. While Lomax was keeping us at arms length.

I get the public strategy of "you're my guy". Many schools do it every year. But it is risky. Why did the strategy change? Obviously, Lomax's camp was whispering he was going to Wichita.

Could backfire on Lomax. Could backfire on the staff. I look forward to the next 10 days.

Yeah, I had a similar thought reading this thread at work today (but I don't post from work...). This is the other side of the Tubby recruiting coin some were bemoaning in another thread. And, WTH, it might play to our favor - one can only hope!

Could also be that the recent focus on crooked recruiting has changed Lomax's possibilities. Maybe whatever "offers" he had are now off the table. You never know.

Why can’t we get both? From the way I see it, there’s plenty of opportunity to be had with the lack of upperclassmen the next couple years. If Harris is a ‘score first’ guy and Lomax is a facilitator, why couldn’t they play together?

In that scenario you're expecting Harris to be a 5'9" SG? I can't imagine they would do that.

I always thought that Lomax fit the mold of a Tubby Smith PG (Tough defender who looks to get others involved before himself) which is why I thought he was their target over Harris, is this not correct?

Per Mark G tweet about 3pm 10/4/17:

Quote:After talking to several people close to 2018 PG Alex Lomax today, I don't believe he has an official visit set up w/ Memphis as of now.

Even IF Lomax is still the staff's #1 priority for a PG, you simply cannot wait on him any longer. Tyler Harris is a very good player and COULD turn out to be a better college player than Lomax - it is hard to tell. If Lomax isn't willing to commit, you need to go all in after Harris. You can't afford to come up empty. Lomax is either on board or he isn't.

And both want to be PG.

IMO, we can't go wrong with either...unless we screw up and end with neither.

Agreed. Like 'em both, but kinda leaning Harris. If he wants in, welcome aboard!

What happened last week with Memphis that "didn't sit right" with Alex Lomax's family? Find out more here:

Quote:According to Lomax Sr., he approached Memphis in hopes of setting up an official visit for last weekend. The Tigers, however, would only commit to do a one-night visit starting last Thursday with Lomax.

After getting to tour campus for a full weekend during official visits to Wichita State and Ole Miss last month, Lomax Sr. said the suggestion of an abbreviated visit “just didn’t sit right to me, or his mama.”

“It was just awkward that they picked a Thursday like that. That was just kind of awkward,” Lomax Sr. said. “I don’t know if they had another kid coming in or something, but I really didn’t like the way they said it. That was just kind of crazy for me. No matter how many times we’ve been there on an unofficial visit, I still need him to get a full effect of the school and the program. It was like y’all were trying to rush the situation.”
