I agree. Last night, the offense was off. I've never seen Anthony Miller drop balls the way he did last night. We did a great job of getting Tony Pollard the ball in the first series and then seemed to forget about him the rest of the game. Just a bad game on that side of the ball.

That being said, Norvell needs to take a long hard look at how he approaches the defensive side of the ball. We rank 126 out of 130 FBS programs in yards given up per game. What's telling, however, is his mentor's program, Arizona State is 119th... it just seems to be their "offense first" philospical approach. The offense is not always going to click, and when it doesn't, we get shellacked... see the Western Kentucky game... the Tulsa game or the Navy game. I like the guy and think he's been a wonderful replacement for Fuente, but for this program to truly make the move to the "next level", it is going to have a philosphical change defensively.

We've got to add some quickness and athleticism at DL and DE....just not good enough at those positions.

The Miller drop on 3rd down early in the 2nd qtr when we were up 7-6 and driving again was a killer.

The offensive problems last nite were caused by their defense. Our OL was no match for their DL and RF was not getting enough time to find his rhythm.

Did we stop blaming the defense for this Loss?

That's too broad of a statement considering we have, what, 9 of our beginning-of-the-year starters out. Sure, you can make the blanket claim that they ought to have nearly as capable back-ups ready to play, but that is pie in the sky for a college program which is not one of the 30 or so upper echelon programs. And even they will suffer drop-offs at times. It is not always plug and play.

I’ve got news for you - our defense was crappy when Fuente was here. We just had a great QB and outscored our opponents. Ferguson is also capable but had a terrible night, along with the rest of the offense.

Agree. Miller’s inexplicable drop started the downfall - Furguson’s fumble put it in overdrive.

Ferguson and rain is proving to be a problem. Coach really got on him for some really bad passing decisions. You can blame the defense all you want but....our offense looked like that was another team on the field.
