Completely agree.
Your best defense is your offense. We have to continue to win time of possession and ball control. Long, sustained scoring drives give our defense time to rest.

I'm not sure Pinkham was an amazing coach either, but he was solid, well liked by the players, and I think if there's that chance to keep continuity from a successful team you take it. Again, assuming it was an option.

RE: WMU is a program/team in transition, deal with it.
Everyone and their brother figured we'd be 1-2 at this point. It was the path to 1-2 we didn't see coming.
Our performance at USC played a bigger role in our unreasonable expectations than last season's record did, imo. We played toe to toe with a Top 5 team for 55 minutes before wilting under the heat, picking off Mr. Heisman Candidate twice.
Lesson is that we (myself included) shouldn't read too much into Week 1 results.
MSU seemed ripe for the picking, having limped to a 3-9 record last year, enduring a police blotter summer, and rotating in a bunch of freshmen. So our offense not sniffing the endzone was unexpected.
So the thought at the time was maybe MSU was a mulligan brought about by the West Coast hangover and too many press clippings of our moral victory. We're back at Waldo now against a weaker opponent, time to let loose. But by 3Q of the Idaho game, we still hadn't sniffed the endzone, and panic buttons were pushed with premature calls for Lester's job.
We recovered, and in Q4 Wassink found his rhythm and things were right with the world again. But the moral of the story is that it's a process, and to allow it to play out. We're "only" rebuilding the passing game from scratch, but that's a major component of a team's engine.

I would argue that losing the QB is more important than losing the coach, when it's a 4-year starter who was very good. You can be fortunate and find an immediate replacement QB that is very good right off the bat but it doesn't happen often.

Hey, there's no room for impartial observers here. We can draw our own far-fetched conclusions without your assistance, thank you.

lol, sorry. I'll head back to the NIU board and read our own far-fetched conclusions.
Still disappointed I can't make boat jokes anymore.

I think that doesn't happen very often At All when you have a QB who never got any playing time prior + has to deal with WRs who got little to no playing, too. Throw in a new HC, QB coach, and OC -- and it gets tougher. More than a 4-game "re-load" phase as some may see it as the default to jell.
Thankfully we play @NIU + @Toledo at the end of the season!

Well, if we don't get a lot better, and start losing games we need to win, we will be paddling up $hit crick, and you can make jokes about our boat taking in water as many are jumping out.
I kid, of course, as you know us loyal Broncos; we always support or team and coaches 100%, even when we question things now and then. Right boys?
