Love this. It's my favorite venue after the Rose Bowl.

The last Big 12 vs Big Ten still was not that well of a turn out. I think they need to rename the bowl the Big Tex Bowl or just Dallas Bowl

A likely opponent in a bowl.
Big 10 was probably not going to fill bowl anyway, at least a decent chance they wouldn't. This would leave the bowl scrambling for a lower tier team.
While Army, at 2-0, is very likely to get bowl eligible.

This is only for 1 year. CUSA has the HOD for the next 2 years after this vacate.

In theory. This time last year we could have said the same thing about CUSA being in the HOD Bowl this year. Frankly, the move seems odd to me. I dont really see why CUSA would agree to it.

Personally, I think this is setting up for the next Alignment. Match P5 vs P5 and let G5 come in as replacements.
Just my opinion:
SEC and ACC settles on Indy or Bham and drops the other one. My bet, Indy becomes AAC vs MWC
Vegas goes to B10 vs P12 and moves MWC to Foster Bowl for last Slot
HOD goes B12 vs ACC or B10. AF Bowl becomes AAC/MWC vs Army
ACC drops out of St. Pete and moves Military to last bowl slot. St. Pete becomes AAC vs CUSA

Perhaps, but I hope not.
I really liked the proposal the ACC and Sunbelt had during the CFP negotiations. There would have been 10 CFP bowls plus the NCG. The top 2 would have been the semi-finals. The other 8 would have matched up the remaining top 20 teams in the country using geography and the rankings to create interesting bowl matchups. The selection committee would create the pairings.

I see virtually none of this happening.

The problem is that Big Ten vs. C-USA or a different G5 league would be even worse turnout. At least Big Ten vs. Big 12 has a chance at decent TV attractiveness.

CUSA is probably getting a check and maybe an agreement for scheduling purposes of a few games like the ACC gave the A-10 to move out of the Barclays for 2 years.

Thanks. 48,000 people gets really small looking in the Cotton Bowl. Seems Big 12 and Houston bring the most fans.
I imagine if the game is Texas or Texas Tech vs. Nebraska or Iowa it would be a great turn out.
I wonder when bowl games are going to start going by division instead of conference. For example this game should be a Big 12 vs. Big Ten West team. Same goes for Military Bowl that should be a AAC East vs ACC.

The MWC won't sell in Shreveport. They will in Vegas and that's why they have that bowl. The best conferences for Shreveport are the SEC, the Big 12, & the ACC. Everybody else is iffy at best.

ACC has not sold well in Shreveport. Air Force does well in Shreveport but there is a big Air Force base there and several more within an easy day's drive. Anyone else from MWC is a long hump and not very easy to get to.
Western parts of AAC, CUSA, and Sun Belt would do just fine in Shreveport. Big XII has tended to do well as have the western SEC teams.

I think bowls rightfully like the flexibility - a bowl doesn't want to lock in a Big Ten West tie-in when Michigan, Ohio State or Penn State is available. The bowls will naturally gravitate to the best fit available for them, anyway. At least for the Big Ten, it doesn't matter much (as bowls in California and Arizona are every bit as popular for Big Ten East schools as they are for Big Ten West schools and vice versa when it comes to Florida bowls). There might be a little more of a natural divide in the SEC where most East schools like Florida-based bowls over Texas-based bowls (and the SEC doesn't really
