MyBB Athlon Sports Magazine and Others 2017-18 Preview
In addition to the 2017-18 Athlon Sports Magazine 2017-18, the below predictions are available:

1. Mark Giannotto - (10/12/17 update) 17-14 or 18-13 overall and 8-10 or 9-9 in AAC play.
2. D1coachcorner.com - 7th AAC Place
3. Sports Action - 8th ACC place
4. Three Man Weave - 8th AAC place
5. Jon Rothstein - 9th AAC place
6. College Sports Madness - 119th nationally, AAC 9th place
7. CBS Sports - 9th AAC Place
8. "T Rank" -9th AAC Place
9. Street and Smith - 9th AAC Place
10. AAC Coaches - 9th AAC Place
11. kenpom.com - 9th AAC Place
12. Sports Illustrated - 9th AAC Place
13. Maryland Sports Blog - 9th AAC Place
14. Lindy's - 11th AAC Place
15. NBC Sports - 11th AAC Place
16. Athlon - 12th (last) AAC place

I assume my update is not deemed smack because it is Tiger related, does not contain the personal attack kind of posts (on my part anyway) smack worthy, and according to Post #116 it is a "Good topic that absolutely went to $&@".

If that happens Tubby will be gone in March. Book it.

The last place team last year - South FL - won one conference game. I think we will record a better mark than 1-17 in the AAC.

I sill don't get why they didn't take into consideration what Tubby is known for, i.e. coaching up the players.

Why would they put us under USF, for example?

Seriously though, How could we be picked under USF?

That fact alone makes me doubt the last place pick.

Well I would like to hear their reasoning for last.

You guys can act like this is cherry picked by Saluki, but he said USF is returning less than Memphis and I believe it. They are in worse shape than we are.
http://csnbbs.com/thread-826132-post-145...id14554757

I brought Saluki's information on returning players up here so we can look:

salukiblue Wrote:

1) Wichita State (returns pretty much every player from at t25 team)
2) Cincinnati (return 8 of 10 top scorers)
3) UCF (return 3 of top 4 scorers, add three transfers who were good players)
4) Tulsa (return 5 of 6 top scorers)
5) SMU (loses Moore and Brown but gets 15pgg USF xfer) drops since Semi enters draft
6) Houston (lose Chicken and Dotson) get an LIU grad xfer and #5 JUCO
7) Memphis
8) UConn (have like three good players, looking for bodies, depending on what else they get)
9) Temple (lose Dingle and Brown from 7-11 AAC team)
10 Tulane (return two leading scorers from ****** team)
11) ECU (wgas)
12) USF (return less "talent" than Memphis, can't even find warm bodies)

I think Mark G's early prediction is closer to the mark, although I think we will have a losing overall record. Last year, a 7-11 AAC record resulted in 8th place.

I am also thinking 7--11 conference record, give or take 1 on either side.
Last just doesn't ring true. There is no possible way we finish there.
The prediction itself was hurtful and uncalled for. lol

Not having Dedric, nor Crawford and others is particularly annoying.

I am predicting 9-4 OOC and 9-9 in conference for a grand total of 18-13 record.

I'm right there with you, for a change. I'm guessing 10-8 in conference but the same 18-13 overall. My wins are: UALR, NO, UAB, Samford, Bryant, Albany, Sienna, and Loyola OOC; Houston, UConn at home, both games against USF, Tulsa, Tulane, and ECU in conference.

And it wouldn't surprise me for Wichita State to be a Final Four team, maybe better. They have a 20-year-old 7ft 270lb ROY from Denmark coming in as a freshman in addition to just about everybody else from last year. I think they're going to dominate the conference their first year, then they'll lose a bunch of seniors worth about 45 points a game. I would be surprised if they lose two games in conference this year, though.

You've done quite a bit of homework on WS. Good post. Good info. I guess the good news could be that we will be pretty good in 2018-19 provided we have a good recruiting class and WS will have to start over with their roster.

As a conference and for our future recruiting we need for Cincy and Wichita to advance deep into the NCAAs

Memphis, Uconn, and temple need to get back on track

Well, I wouldn't say "starting over," but let's put it this way -- I'm guessing we'll have a better shot at beating them next year.

I just can't see a path to ONLY 16 wins. Maybe Mark has just seen more of them and has a better idea of what they can do.

I just think there are too many bobo teams on the schedule to only get to 16.

2x each vs. ECU, Tulane, and USF and six other AAC home games (which Memphis should at least win three)--that's 9 AAC wins. On the OOC side, there are 10 home games and Memphis should win all 10, but even if they only win eight (losing, say to NKU and Albany) that is 17 wins.

It is an early prediction from Mark. I do not hold him to it. He may provide a more solid prediction upon more available information (e.g., perhaps watch them in practice which starts 9/29/17.)
