I was "told" that Williams was the best QB. I have no inside sources so it was of course hearsay from someone who might should maybe possibly know.
To your point; platooning QBs has historically not worked well at any level. This is certainly unusual.
Either BW is gun shy from 2015, or the coaches feel that Hoy is ultimately
the best choice and want him ready as quickly as possible while still being in the best position to win games.
To my eye, BL was much more in command of the offense than Hoy on Saturday.

RE: 2017 Football opponents
Williams is the most talented for sure and the long term option. LaRussa is the "best" QB right now. Williams is not ready right now, but could possibly be ready at some point this year. But, by that point, we may not want to burn a year.
I disagree on the success rate of platooning at the college level. It happens all the time. But, is this something that is long term for us? Last year, Bobby went into week 1 and platooned 3 QBs. In Week 1, Hoy played the 4th, 5th, 7th, 10th, 13th possessions. I think he went back in the 5th because of the turnover on the 4th.
It seems reasonable that Hoy isn't ready and they are easing him in.....but, going through the game logs is fair more favorable to LaRussa and maybe we actually see less time from Hoy next week. Larussa had 1 punt (should have been TD), 2 turnovers, 4 TDs, and 1 FG. Hoy possessions had 4 Punts and a turnover (he couldn't control that). We gained 1 first down in 5 possessions from Hoy.
1- LaRussa- 3 plays-punt (dropped prolly TD) 1 yard
2- 2 plays- INT- 1 yard
3- 3 plays-TD-48 yards
6- 3 plays- TD- 41 yards
8- 13 plays-TD-45 yards
9- 11 plays- FG-77 yards
11- 2 plays-INT-14 yards
12- 2 plays TD- 75 yards
8 possessions; 2 INTs, 4 TDS, FG, 1 Punt. Punts probably should have been TD.
Hoy
4- 5 plays- 25 yards- fumble
5- 3 plays- 6 yards-punt
7- 3 plays- 7 yards-punt
10- 3 plays-punt- minus 20 yards
11- 3 plays- punt-3 yards
5 possessions- 21 yards; 4 punts and a fumble.

Gotcha. I haven't talked to anyone recently, but know that about a month ago, there was some thought that he may be the best.

Wow. That is interesting. Makes you wonder how much the people who are saying BL played poorly are just thinking about the overall performance, and not accounting for the drag on the overall numbers while Hoy was in.

RE: 2017 Football opponents
Further analysis-
LaRussa- 39 plays-302 yards; 7.74 yards per play, 3.88 points per possession
Hoy- 17 plays- 21- 21 yards; 1.23 yards per play, 0 points per possession
I honestly was shocked that we moved the ball as well as we did with LaRussa under center. I think the interceptions and the Hoy possessions kind of drowns it out. Just assume Larussa maintained the same production over the remaining 5 possessions. You are talking about 50 points and 170 additional yards than what Hoy had.

Indiana went toe to toe with Ohio State for much of that game. List seems really questionable.

Too bad for Indiana but the game was 60 minutes long. Or too long for them.

At least Temple made that list. That will always make me happy.
Our conference isn't very good.

Maybe when the merge/split takes place those 11 can stay together.

WOW, that is brutal. ECU has fallen fast. Remember when we wanted to be them?
Whomever was responsible for firing Ruffin McNeil should be fired immediately. That has got to be one of the worst coaching changes I have ever seen.

How about second behind the firing of Phillip Fulmer at Tennessee? Tennessee is still paying for that one.

I don't want to start an argument, but this is the issue at times when firing a solid coach. Sometimes you can find someone to elevate the program even higher, sometimes you turn into ECu.

They've gone 9-4 in each of the past two years. So, while they aren't quite where they were under Phil, they aren't a joke either. ECU appears to be in its' Dooley phase.
