Don't care if we're playing our student managers, the trombone section and cheerleaders in the second half I'll be disappointed if Elon scores 24 with a new system and two freshman QBs.

I agree! I think I read somewhere that Elon last year averaged less than 12 points a game, and many of their new pieces on offense are freshmen (true or R/S). 24 points would lead to some concern about our D (unless all 24 come in the 4th quarter against our 3rd & 4th strings).
Candle doesn't strike me as the "kick 'em while they're down" type. Rockets will have fun & score more possessions than not in the first half, but after that there will be lots of playing time on both sides of the ball for guys down the roster. UT wins 45 - 10.

Oh...and a crowd of less than 18,000 would be a pretty big disappointment--OSU playing or not. Looks like great football weather. Not sure we'll reach 20,000 but hope we do. May depend on how good the student turnout is.

If we give up 24, we're in for a long season. I'm still not quite sold on the lofty expectations of this team considering what we lost on the O & D Lines...games are won or lost in the trenches. I just hope that the guys we are plugging in have continued to develop.

I agree Tampa... We should know alot after the first 4 games. Just hope we continue to improve as season progresses.. For what ever reason recent Rcoket teams tend to fade instead.

RE: Predictions
My guess would have been about 48-10. I knew, one way or the other, they would be permitted to put some points up. I figured the coach wouldn't show too much in this game, but the offense would light up the board anyway.
Was a little puzzled at all the FG's in the first half as opposed to TD's. Really, the offense looked a little rusty. Hard to really evaluate the D against a soft opponent. They made some plays, but you would kind of expect that. Elon's top receiver was out.
Bright spot on the night, I thought, was Seymour. I got the impression that he wants to be #1. Listed at 5-11, 218, he looks like a strong runner already. Just imagine what a couple more years in the weight room will do for him. Bruce compared him to Will Bratton. Totally different build, but he has a similar burst, I guess. McCrimmon didn't get a carry, did he?
