RE: OT...Macgregor fight...
Overall a pretty good fight. Macgregor was much better than I thought he would be, though if he had a decent upercut he could have knocked Mayweather out a couple of times. Not surprised he ran out of gas when Mayweather was clearly waiting him out. He probably has a decent boxing career ahead of him if he chooses to go that route.
First fight Mayweather was watchable in many years, though he still pulled his punk ass moves that makes him frustrating to watch. Had his head too low and horizontal to the mat on several occasions, almost like he was baiting Macgregor into hammer punching him in the back of the head. Same with the turning his back to Macgregor. I felt like Macgregor was dying to pick him up and slam him down every time Mayweather turned his back.
I probably would have enjoyed it much better had I not been on a bachelor party and not been up since 5:30 Saturday morning.

LOL, no. McGregor would take Mayweather's back in the first 30 seconds and that would be that.
He would not have to take his back. He would beat him standing up without any problem.
One high kick to the head or a spin kick to the gut and down he'd go.
Conner is very good at the inside leg kick. That alone would be hard for anyone not trained in defending it to avoid getting hurt. MM depends on movement...without legs? Ouch.

I thought Mac did a good job considering he isn't a boxer.

A more aggressive boxer would have knocked out McGregor in 1-2 rounds.

Two questions:
1. How much of Floyd's money is going to the IRS?
2. Can he read how much money he has?

I don't know about that, he still had his legs under him the through first 5-6 rounds and he has a great chin as evidenced by some of the shots I've seen him take by an MMA fighter wearing only 4 ounce gloves. He absorbed some pretty good shots in the later rounds and had his stamina held up he could have gone 12 rounds I think. Boxing refs have different criteria than do MMA refs by which they judge a fighters condition so I think the stoppage was justified.
Conversely, Mayweather wouldn't have lasted two rounds with any high level MMA practioner after being hit with 4 ounce gloves. They are why there are so many cuts and so much blood in MMA.
Mayweather has never been an aggressive fighter but he had a game plan that worked perfectly, he dragged him into the deep end, pulled him down and ultimately held him under until he was spent.

yep, he used that - and the outside leg kick - to perfection in the 2nd Diaz fight.

A couple of years of intense training in boxing - or long enough to develop his instincts for the boxing game and lose the MMA instincts - and he could be really good at it. Those MMA instincts and techniques are too ingrained in him at this point and I'm not sure he has the time to lose them or at least develop the boxing game to the point where he can switch between them on command.

RE: OT...Macgregor fight...
Speaking of Diaz, I'd like to see him go up against a boxer since that's his primary discipline. he's one of the best at it in the MMA world.

McGregor's mechanics were awful. He only stayed around because Floyd didn't do anything but sit back and allow Colin him wear himself out... this with 8oz gloves (they typically wear 10oz). Mayweather knew after the first round McGregor couldn't hurt him, so he just played with him. That being said, Floyd is 41. He hadn't fought in 2 years, and he only trained for this fight for a few months. He also knew 12, three minute rounds was going to be tough for a MMA fighter. Floyd threw 4 punches in the first round... 4.
Mayweather is not a KO fighter... his last KO/TKO was in 2011.
Sub in a 29yo hungry fighter with KO power and it would get ugly quick. McGregor needs to stick with MMA.
