When he is right he is the best recent behind IP.
George Winn was a beast in 2012. He rushed for over 1300 yards that year, caught another 800 and was a special teams wonder. Mike has been great, hopefully he matches or exceeds George's production.
Circling back to this from yesterday...
I am optimistic Mike is going to have a big year. That being said, we'd better hope the issue last year was the coaching staff and not on the player. The reason I say that is when you look at his production, Boone has not consistently strung out as good of a year as many think on this board.
In 2014, he did not play until the 5th game of the season. He had one monster game where he rushed for 212 yards, the next he rushed for 113, but otherwise he went for 14, 18, 45, 52, 62 and 85. He rushed for 9 TDs
In 2015, he had three games where he went 117, 118 and 137. The other 10 games he went for 86, 16, 53, 49, 57, 28, 56 and 32. He rushed for 9 TDs
In 2016, he rushed for 35, 78, 29, 74, 31, 7, 88, 24 and 22. He missed the last three games. He rushed for 3 TDs.
Going back to Winn: In 2012 he rushed for 147, 128, 125, 165, 119, 130, 95, 86, 83, 76, 75, 70, 70 and 35. He rushed for 13 TDs.
Synopsis: Winn was much more consistent. Boone basically has had 5 100+ yard games in three years-- George had 6 in just one season as a starter and rushed for more TDs. Hopefully the answer is the substitution patterns, the coaching or sharing the backfield with Tion Green and Rod Moore (however in 2012 Winn shared the backfield with a more trim Tion Green and RDIV, not to mention Munchie/Kay ran the ball a lot), but I think for now it is premature to anoint Mike the best we've had since Pead.
