And then there was one
I just went to visit odubleedblue.com in hopes that maybe it was coming back for the upcoming season. I found that the url is for sale instead. Monarch Nation (monarchfans.com) also went dead recently, leaving this as the only place for Monarch fans to gather. We had it good for a while. Hopefully the Monarch Asylum podcast will be back this year. With no coaches show for basketball any more, two message boards and news sources down, and the paper laying off people left and right its getting harder and harder to get any news on my favorite team.

RE: And then there was one
I almost joined CAA Zone back in the day after lurking for years, but once I heard of the move to CUSA that changed. I wanted to join MonarchFans but couldn't figure out how to join it. I don't remember exactly how I found this site but after lurking for a year I joined up. This is the place I get most of my ODU information about and I'm so glad I did

RE: And then there was one
Monarch Nation (Monarch Fans) really lost it's relevance a decade ago as it enforced a "policy of positivity", rejecting anything negative ODU. For that last few years it had become mostly a small group of people with inside MBB info who communicated on PM. Even that started to wane when BT left.
On the other hand The CAA Zone was the "wild west", with little or no moderation, and when there was moderation it was bizarre. Basically it was the toy of some George Mason fans. I must confess that sometimes I miss the days when I could torment JMU fans unfettered by moderation.
ODU BleedBlue is indeed a loss. It was packed with factual and relevant information presented from an ODU perspective.
I don't always agree with his conclusions, but I hope Asylum's podcasts continue. They are always well done.
This board (Lion's Den) is far and away the best I have seen, including boards other schools use now. I think that allowing free speech within the proscriptions of the AUP allows for many diverse opinions, and thus ensures the longevity of this forum.

Wish more schools in CUSA were active here.

RE: And then there was one
There are some characters from the old days that I miss. Some of the GMU guys were funny, notably Jollay. Samnang's VCU board was a bit of manic fun. I don't remember specifics about the battles with JMU fans, but it was entertaining to watch from afar.
Monarch Nation was always a bit dull. I'd check there for legitimate news, but then I'd go immediately back to the 'zone for entertainment.

I tried to sign up for Zone but they never OK'd it, and then this board came online. But as a lurker, it was tons of fun. The JMU folks were so insufferable. By the time they migrated to CSN, they had been beaten down by years of monitoring.

I personally liked Monarch Nation but it definitely wasn't for the millennials.

I liked MN until they went overboard with censoring every post that was not 100% positive.

Haha. I never got banned, but I definitely had some posts deleted.
I also wasn't AS harsh on BT until the last year or two. It was pretty hard to argue with the prior results up until it was blatantly obvious that the ship was sinking.

Sadly, I rarely even visit this site anymore with all of the negativity. At least the zone had some great "fishermen" to keep it entertaining. I know everything isn't rainbows and puppies, but reading this board over the last few months you'd think ODU sports was on hospice care.
